A/N: Hey please keep in mind that this is my first fanfiction so don't mind the grammatical errors, spelling errors, or confusion in the story line. Also I don't own any of these characters or places except for the ones I make up. Thanks!!
It all started one morning in the middle of July. It was the height of my summer vacation and I was having fun running around outside with my two brothers and one sister. I had an older brother named John, who, at the time, was thirteen years old. My younger brother's name was Luke and he was nine years old. And my younger sister was named Annabelle, who was seven. And then there was me. Eleven year old, Adrienne Fey. I was the second oldest or the middle child as you may consider it as. I was really interested in magic and wizards and I loved studying and reading about them in different books. I've read many books on a magical castle dedicated to wizardry called Hogwarts but I knew that it wasn't real or that apparating could never happen. It would be quite awesome if it did exist but I don't think it does. I've read all about the "muggles" and all about Harry Potter, the infamous "boy who lived." I've also read a ton about different things like owl post and different spells that are considered "first year level." My family lived in a rural area though so I didn't get much time to go to the library and learn more about Hogwarts. We lived out on the edge of the woods in England and raised cattle in an open field next to the woods.
I was just about to chase John into the woods, when my mother called me inside. I ran inside, hot and sweaty from exploring outside, and my mother handed me a letter. As I looked at it, I saw it was an old-stained envelope and it had a red wax seal on the back of it with a sort of an emblem printed in blue ink. It had my name on the front in nice, cursive letters.
"This came for you this morning," my mum told me as she handed me the envelope.
"What is it?" I asked her.
"Well...theres kinda a long story behind it. I should probably tell you before you open that," she said, gesturing to the letter that still remained, unopened in my hand.
"Okay, we have plenty of time," I said sitting down on our couch and gesturing her to do the same.
(FLASHBACK 10 YEARS AGO):
"It all started 10 years ago, when a letter came to me, informing that you were coming to live with me. I went outside to meet them, but they weren't ordinary people. They were dressed in flowing robes, and I didn't see any form of transportation in which they arrived in. They started talking to me and as they did, I noticed things that, well...to me, resembled wands, sticking out of the folds of their robes. They were telling me that they were giving me this child, in which case, you. They were doing this because your parents had been in a tragic accident and have died. I was your father's sister so therefore, I was the only option they had left. They explained to me who they were when they saw me staring at their oddly chosen clothing. Turns out, they were in fact wizards. There were three of them total, and they all had something that stood out to me. One man had golden, half-moon glasses and a very long, silvery-white beard. His name was Albus Dumbledore and he looked very wise. Next, there was a women who wore green robes and she had a very strict face and her hair was pulled into a harsh bun. Her name was Professor Mcgonagall and she looked like a very good teacher. Lastly, there was another man, dressed in all black robes. His face was sad and hollow-like and his eyes were cold and empty. I get frightened just telling you about him. His name was Professor Severus Snape and he looked as though he didn't seem very excited to be there. They told me that in 10 years, you would receive a letter that would invite you to join a school of witchcraft and wizardry called Hogwarts."
(FLASHBACK TO REALITY):
"So that's what this letter is," I said, waving the letter around, still trying to wrap my head around the entire thing and about the fact that everything I've read in my books was true and there really was a castle named Hogwarts.
"Yes, it is," she replied. "You can open the letter now."
As soon as she said this, I was opening the envelope carefully, but still quickly. When I opened the letter, I couldn't believe my eyes. The invitation to Hogwarts seems too good to be true.Dear Miss Fey,
