As I stepped into the room, my breath was taken away. The Ravenclaw common room was even more beautiful than I imagined it to be. The common room was a big, wide, circular room with arched windows and had blue and bronze drapes, as those were our house colors. The ceiling was painted with stars and the view from the common room was amazing. We could see so much, including the grounds of Hogwarts, the forbidden forest, the black lake, the quidditch arena, the herbology gardens, and the mountains surrounding the castle. But a stern voice broke my admiration. It was our prefect, Olivia Hershel.
"So this is our common room. The girl's dormitories are located to the right of the statue of Rowena Ravenclaw, and the boy's are to the left. There you will find all your things already delivered to your bed. I recommend going to bed now, as you have an early start tomorrow," she said as I looked at my golden pocket watch and realized it was almost ten-thirty. Everyone said their goodnight's and headed up the stairs to the dormitories. I found my room that I was sharing with Vanessa and Isabelle as well as one other girl that was a fourth year. Her name was Sophia Curtis and she had long, caramel brown hair and green eyes with golden flecks in them.
I suddenly remembered that I had to write to my mum telling her what house I got into. I walked over to my little desk besides the window and quickly wrote, saying what house I was in as well as recent events of being at Hogwarts. I finished up the letter and took it to Alyssa, my barn ow, telling her where to take it. That's the beauty of owls I suppose. You can tell them who to take something too and they'll know exactly where they are.
As I watched Alyssa fly off into the night sky, my thoughts were broken by a voice that belonged to Vanessa, one of my best friends.
"What are you thinking about?" She asked with curiosity and wisdom in her warm eyes.
"Oh nothing. Just everything that has recently happened must be stressing me out," I replied.
"I know what you mean. I never thought that magic was real until I got my letter to Hogwarts two years ago. It's just all pushed on you at once unless you live in a wizarding world when you were born," she said with sympathy in her warm brown eyes.
"Yeah same with me. I read so many books about Hogwarts but I never thought that it was actually real."
"Yeah."
"I reckon we should turn in now. We have a long day tomorrow and it's nearly eleven o'clock. I think we might cope better tomorrow with a good night's sleep," I said, looking at my pocket watch."
"You're probably right. Goodnight Anne!"
"Goodnight, Vanessa."
A/N: Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed this new chapter. I'm sorry if this was super short. I was just filling in details but it will get more hectic in the later chapters I promise! Remember to vote, and comment. It really helps me if you tell me what I am doing well and what I am doing not so well. Thanks!!
