I was sprinting up the stairs, two at a time, and ran into my dorm room. I looked around, frantic to find my textbooks and get back to Hermione before lunch time started and we had to go eat. I found my textbooks and parchment papers and was about to leave when my eyes rested on a pitch black owl sitting on my bed with a note tied to it's leg. I grabbed the note and fed the owl some owl pellets before shooing it out the open window. I stuffed the note into my pocket and raced back down the stairs to the library.
As I walked into the library, a musky smell of books and old parchment greeted my nose. It gave me a sense of relaxation because apparently there was a lot of stress on me. My eyes scammed the room for Hermione and I found her sitting at a table with her books and parchment rolls spread out over her half of the table. I walked over with my bag slung over my shoulder and my books in my arms.
"Hey, Hermione," I greeted her with a smile.
"Hey, Anne. Ready to study a bit?"
"Yeah. I brought my next two classes' textbooks and I'm ready for get some good study time in before lunch."
"Cool. I can tell we will become best friends," Hermione said with a warm smile.
"Yeah. Totally." I agreed with a laugh.
"So let's start with DADA because it seems to be the toughest class," Hermione suggested.
"That's a good idea," I said.
Thirty minutes later, Hermione and I were walking out of the library laughing about something that we heard the third years talking about.
"That was hilarious," I laughed.
"I know right," Hermione said, laughing with me. "But now I'm starving. Let's go see what's for lunch."
We walked into the Great Hall and parted ways. She went to the Gryffindor table to join Harry and Ron and I went to the Ravenclaw table to join Isabella and Vanessa. There we had fun laughing over the recent prank that Fred and George, did to the DADA teacher, Professor Quirrell. From what I heard they enchanted snowballs to pitch themselves at the back of Quirrell's head. I also heard that Fred and George were the school's biggest pranksters and were very mischievous. I have yet to meet them formally but Hermione said she would introduce me to them sometime.
Soon lunch was over and we left to out next classes, DADA, History of Magic, and Transfiguration. After that we had a free period before dinner. During the free period, I was hanging out in the common room with Isabella and Vanessa and we were talking about George Weasley, which is one of the boys that Vanessa had a crush on. That is one thing that bothers me about Vanessa. She is two years older than me and had at least 10 boyfriends last year. But saying that she fancies George isn't much of a surprise. From what I've heard, all of the girls fancy Fred and George. I'm one of the few girls who don't. I have met them before at the platform to 9 3/4 as well as countless times I've talked to Ron and they have come up to prank him. And I can definitely see why they're fancied so much. The ginger hair and a laughing twinkle in their eyes made them irresistible to other girls. But not for me. To me, I see two mischievous boys that I can team up to prank my fellow students or teachers that we don't like.
"Hello? Anne? Are you listening?" Vanessa waved her hand in front of my face and the motion brings me out of my daydreaming.
"What? Sorry, I zoned out," I apologized.
"Gosh. What we were saying is maybe you could talk to him. You seem pretty close to the twins," she said, sighing.
"I don't know. I don't talk to them too much and I'm not that close to the twins. I'll try to talk to him later, okay?" I promised, shifting my weight and suddenly feel a piece of paper jab me in the leg.
"Ow! What was that?" I thought as I stuck my hand into my pocket. It came up with a folded piece of paper and that's when I remembered the note I got today.
"What's that?" Isabella asked, scooting closer so she could attempt to read it.
"I got a note from someone this morning and I forgot to open it."
"Well open it now," Vanessa said, smiling.
"No. I think I'll open it in my bed," I said, stuffing the note back inside my pocket and heading upstairs to my dorm. "I'm kind of tired anyways. Goodnight."
"Goodnight, Anne. We're going to chat a bit more and then come up."
"Okay."
I walked upstairs to my dorm room and sat on my bed, thinking. I was thinking about ways to talk to the twins and how to suddenly become a matchmaker. I was also thinking about what the note said so decided to open it.
At first glance, I could see nice, cursive script and crisp, near handwriting. I opened the note fully and read what was on the paper.
Some dark, some light, but both together are unified as one.
It helps them work smoothly together, even when times of argument fall upon them.
This place I guide you to with great lust,
It is dark, mysterious, and full of dust.
But from here one can soar in the sky like an eagle,
And conquer the depths of the shadows.
You have until the twentieth of September to decipher this place.
Make haste or it will all go to waste.
~Secret admirer"Hmm. Interesting," I thought. "I might as well show my friends tomorrow. But it's getting late and I have an early start tomorrow. We get to learn how to fly tomorrow!"
I went to bed as Izzi and Vanessa started getting ready and had dreams about the secret and the note's riddle.A/N: Hey guys! I hope you enjoyed this latest chapter. Do you think that Nessa and George will end up together? Comment if you think so or not. Also comment what the secret place could be and who might be waiting for Adrienne. Thanks so much for reading!
