"I wonder how we will find places to buy these spell books and materials?" I asked my mum, as I was reading over the supplies for the first years, which is what I will be when I go to Hogwarts.
"Oh, that reminded me. When the professors visited me that night, since I'm a "muggle" or non-magic folk, they told me the process of buying books and how to find the shops as well as what the owl post is. To buy your supplies, we have to go to a place called Diagon Alley, which is in Kings Cross, London. The professors said that if we want to get there, we have to find a shop that only wizards or parents of wizards can see, which is called the Leaky Cauldron. From there we have to travel through the Leaky Cauldron and out the other side. From there, we should see a brick wall, which would be the entrance to Diagon Alley. To get in, however, we have to tap a specific order of bricks, which can be found by tapping two bricks on the left of the hole in the wall, the one on top, and the two on the right. From there we can find stores that will suffice to your needs," my mum told me.
"Wow! That's a long process," I exclaimed. "When are we going?"
"Soon. Professor Mcgonagall also said that she would help us in buying your items. She said she would meet us by the entrance of Diagon Alley around 1:00," my mum said, looking rather stressed and tired.
"But that's in 20 minutes!" I exclaimed. "We'd better go soon because we might have some trouble along the way."
"Your probably right," my mom said, sighing slightly.
"Are you okay, Mum," I ask my mum, concerned for her.
"Yeah, I'm fine. I guess I'm just stressed with all the news about you going to Hogwarts and us having to travel different places. But don't worry about me, hon. Right now we need to worry about getting you your school supplies," she told me, smiling at me.
"Okay."
We drove down to Kings Cross and found the Leaky Cauldron. We went through the shop without much trouble from the other wizards that were visiting and found the brick wall behind it and tapped the correct brick order. As the bricks parted to reveal the alley, my eyes widened in surprise and excitement. As I looked around, I saw a certain woman in particular that looked like a professor from Hogwarts. I saw my mother going to talk to her so I assumed that she was Professor Mcgonagall. I walked over and she smiled warmly at me.
"Hello. You must be Adrienne. Your mother has told me wonderful things about you."
"Thank you. Yes, my name is Adrienne Fey. You must be Professor Mcgonagall."
"Yes, I am. Now I heard that you may need some help navigating and use with currency?"
"Yes, ma'am. I've heard that the currency here is different than others."
"The currency we use here are called knuts, sickles, and galleons. 29 knuts make up a sickle and 17 sickles make up a galleon. Seeing that you are new here and unfamiliar with our currency, I'm assuming you don't have any of it?"
"No ma'am, I don't," I said to her, feeling rather ashamed.
"Don't worry though. I will show you to the Gringotts bank and you can exchange your muggle money for knuts, sickles, and galleons."
"Oh that's good," I exclaimed, inwardly thanking my family that they were considerably wealthy in muggle money.
After we went to the bank, I came back with my mum and Professor Mcgonagall with my coin pouch filled with many galleons, sickles, and knuts.
