{ CHAPTER 3 - STALKING PREY IN REDRUM }
Stalking her prey was always phase one of every kill.
“Starandra! Hurry up, or you’ll be late for school!” Dominic shouted as he looked into the living room mirror and fixed his hair before snatching his keys from off the messenger table near the front door.
“Okay, okay. Jeez don’t get your balls in a twist.” Starandra sneered as she jogged down the stairs wearing a pair of black skinny jeans with white as snow converse with a gray ‘Obey’ hoodie and her hair flowing down her back in natural brown curls. Her face only touched up with eyeliner and lip gloss.
She looked at Dominic waiting impatiently as she slung her cherry red backpack over her right shoulder.
“Well maybe if you would get ready faster I wouldn’t have to be so hurried.” Dominic snapped as he crossed his arms over his leather jacket.
“Well, not all of us choose to wake up and walk out the door.” She pursed her lips to the corner and quirked her left eyebrow up a little, holding back a giggle.
“I didn’t say that you shouldn’t – umm, you know what forget it – happy now Star?” Dominic at lost for words, glaring at her comments.
“Ecstatic.” She faked a smile and skipped out the door swooping her hair to the side over her left shoulder before pulling her hoodie up.
As Dominic followed behind her with his hoodie up, they slumped into the midnight black Volvo s60. They revved down the dusty thin path that lead through the bowels of the west forest. Soon they had switched at a spilt path to drive furiously down the north side of the forest. Soon they were at the very edge of the forest where it met the world of modern. Dominic looked both ways very cautiously, aiming sure no one was driving down the street to see them come out of the forest. Speeding onto the concrete and down the path they were soon in the smack center of Redrum.
People had to have balls to live in Redrum. Legend says this town invented Murder, one out of several reasons why this town was named Redrum. Rumor spread says that an ancient vampire had lived in the shadowy mansion – now owed by Dominic – and fed off of anyone that walked the night in the town. Everyone drank, and I mean drank like no tomorrow. The town was known for the making of Rum and no one was caught died not drinking it. Since, this ancient vampire, Lucinda, was very fond of her meals and their red blood intoxicated with rum, she named her town Redrum. She was their murder and only one thing killed her, Life. She killed herself, with a maple wood stake right through her heart, right in the middle of town. They say she was depressed, but no one knows why… no one ever lived to carry a full conversation without having their blood sucked out of their bodies. She was then buried under the Welcome to Redrum sign two miles from entering the town, with the stake – still to this day – stabbed through her heart. It is said that if you drink Rum under the moonlight you can feel her cold breath on your neck.
“We’re here, have a great day, Star.” Dominic smiled, reaching over to her seat kissing her on the cheek.
“Nice choice today,” She referred to the cheek kiss, “Wouldn’t want to leave you hot and fantasizing.” Starandra winked as she sticked out her tongue laughing and quickly getting out the car, closing the door as she lightly heard Dominic cursing at her. The car honk shrieked and the window rolled down.
“Get your ass in school, Star.” Dominic sneered, glaring at her then driving away in one swift moment that left the tips of her hair flowing in its wind.
Starandra turned around as she was now in the presence of a horrid jail – Redrum High.
Walking down the halls in stalk mode; squinting her eyes, turning her head to anything that could give her any leads, and then toning the world out as she found her target – Colton West. She stayed at a perfect distance to be unnoticed by him. He was your typical popular guy at Redrum High, but he was very lost in himself. He only went to a party if he wasn't invited only to crash them, meaning in other words, bang a couple girls, flirt, drink, and ditch the scene. It was weird but since the young teen population was just blinded by his handsome features and high rank in the clique chain they always just shrugged his weird moments away.
“Colton, please just listen to me, please.” This chestnut haired, petite girl begged at his locker.
“No, I get it, you don’t need to explain, you're into Brad you’ve been cheating on me, story now over. Okay? Have a good day.” He calmly said to her then flashed a smile and slammed his locker shut walking away from the stunned girl.
Starandra followed behind with books in her arms, posing to the audience as if she was just trying to get to class. She kept her eyes on the all different shades of black clothed boy that still made it look so attractive.
“Colton!” A guy in his popular crew shouted while walking next to him. Colton ignored him and walked at a rapid pace that Starandra swore couldn’t have been normal, but she shook the thought away and continued her phase.
During Lunch ; Colton’s Point of View
I knew that someone was following me, and had been all day. I knew that I couldn’t go out for my lunch today; it would be too dangerous since I was in this position of being predated.
I growled in annoyance as I could just smell the person’s scent – flowers and metal? Wow, what was this girl into?
I turned around and scan the scene behind me for the first time today. I looked at evey girl in the room and locked eyes with this slender, beauty. Her eyes only met mine for a brief moment as I swore I felt the world pause in time and it was only me and her. I looked at her eyes again without her looking back and blinked when I saw the color in her eyes flicker right before she ran out the cafeteria.
During Lunch ; Third-Person Point of View
Run, run, and run. Running. That’s all she did. All she thought of, running.
Wind smacked against her face as she ran through the forest, ducking at the perfect seconds avoiding the twigs and branches from scrapping against her skin.
This was an emergency as her heart beat increases.
Heart beat racing time. ThumpThumpThumpThump.
Reaching the west side of the forest she found the mansion and busted through the door, calling Dominic.
“Starandra?! What are you doing?” Dominic roared in frustration at her cutting her phase off.
“Dominic, I can’t do the mission.”
