After we told Dianne that the job was done, she gave us the Jewels with a great smile. She's probably happy that she won't be bothered by that dark guild no more. The money, however, was a bit of a struggle. Since it was 100,000,000,000 Jewels, it was a lot to carry. And she didn't even seemed phased to give up that much money! But then again, her family is one of the richest families alive.
Once we got back to the guild, I decided to split the money, but Erza wouldn't let me.
"You clearly finished this job by yourself," she said sternly. "So you should keep the reward."
"No, we're a team remember? We're Team Natsu, so we should split it, fair and square. What's the part of being a team if we don't share the reward?" I insisted.
"You and Lucy can split it. You both need it the most." She replied.
Knowing that I was going to lose this debate, I took her word and went to Lucy's apartment. She didn't go to the guild when we got back so I thought that I'd drop by, see if she's okay.
When I stepped through the door, I'd seen The landlady standing in front of the steps. "Mr. Lycas, you owe me my rent."
Geez she's creepy! I quickly handed her the 70,000 Jewels and ran up to Lucy's room. I knocked on the door and waited for a while.
Soon, Lucy opened the door in her lounge clothes, a white tank top and jean cutoffs. "Oh, hi Lycas."
"Hi," I replied sheepishly. "I wanted to spilt the reward with you since Erza and the rest wouldn't take it."
"Are you sure?" She asked. "You didn't need our help."
"We're a team," I smiled. "Plus, this is too much for one person and it could help you with your rent." I gave her 50,000,000,ooo Jewel and she let me in.
I laid the rest of it next to the door and rubbed the back of my neck. "I also...wanted to give you something."
She turned to me. "You did? Lycas, you didn't have to get anything for me."
"I wanted to do this," I shrugged. "Now turn around and move your hair to the side."
She did that and I took the golden chain with the Yang emblem out of my pocket and placed it around her neck. I clasped the chain together and guided her to the mirror.
She gasped when she realized what it was. "Lycas, you can't give me this. Your parents gave it to you."
I leaned forward to have my mouth near her ear. I spoke with a low tone. "I want you to have it. You're there for me, like my perfect half. It was something you deserve."
She turned around and looked up at me (only about 3 inches taller though). "Thank you, Lycas. This means so much to me."
I chuckled with a grin. "It was nothing."
Lucy put her arms around my neck and I gazed into her eyes. "It was everything."
With that, her lips met mine. They felt so soft and warm, like I was in a trance. I closed my eyes, enjoying everything that was happening. My arms wrapped around her waist and I held her close. She pulled away and I rested my forehead on hers.
It was then that I heard a small sound that caught my attention, of course my Dragonslayer senses. I looked over to the door and saw that someone had pushed a piece of paper underneath the door. I walked over to it and picked it up.
Lycas,
So you've defeated the rest of the Seven Kin, that's impressive. The only person that could do that other than me would've been Zeref. You have proven me wrong again, but it's not over, it will never be over. I've tried to make reason with you, but you refused. Now, I have to take matters into my own hands. I'm coming for you and your guild, and I will kill you like I did your parents.
