That night, I struggled to sleep. After what happened at the guild, I was so convinced that anything could happen. But I just brushed it aside and tried to get some rest.
Later on in the day, I decided to head to the guild, possibly go on a job. When I passed the park like I usually do, I noticed an egg just sitting under a tree. I stopped and looked at it. It was at least as tall as 3 feet and it was black with white swirls. The egg was definitely not one you'd buy at the market.
Suddenly, it started to crack. The cracks grew bigger and bigger until the top half shattered, revealing a... Black cat?
It stepped out of the egg bottom and looked around, like it was lost. The cat wore white trousers like Panther Lily, but didn't have a green waistband. Instead, there was a red waistband with a knot tied to the side, sort of a makeshift belt. A white scarf covered it's neck and wrapped around its mouth and head, resembling a hood, but only its yellow eyes could be seen. The cat had a cut that was crossed twice on the left side of the face, near its eye. A scythe was strapped to its back.
"Um," I blinked. "Are you lost, Exceed?"
The cat looked up at me and nodded. "What's your name?"
"I'm Lycas," I replied. "What's yours?"
It looked at the ground. "I don't have a name."
I frowned and stroked my chin. "Well then we'll think of a name for you."
The cat then jumped in the air. "I got it!!! Call me Fang."
"Fang?" I thought for a moment. "I like that name. From now on, your name is Fang. Do you want to be my partner and join my guild?"
"Of course I do!" Fang jumped in the air, wings appearing.

When we got to the guild, I took Fang to see Master. Since I found him, he decided to get the same type of insignia as mine on his back, red outlined in black. Now I finally have my own exceed!!! Except, he hasn't taken off his hood/scarf thing. I think it's a tunic, but still. I came out with Fang sitting on my shoulder. He didn't weigh much and I thought it'd be fun.I sat down next to Lucy, who smiled at me, then at Fang. "Guys, this is Fang, my Exceed and the new member of the guild."
Everyone greeted him and gave their welcomes, then he jumped down and joined up with Happy, Carla, and Panther Lily. It looked like they were having fun, then Fang pulled down his hood. Wow, he really looked like Panther Lily, except the ears. Fang's were pointed while Lily's were rounded. Aside from the ears and the scar, I'd say they were practically twins.
Gajeel must've noticed it too. "Whoa, am I seeing double Lily's?"
I chuckled. "Nope, that's Fang. The one with the scarf thing, that's my Exceed."
"But there's something else," Gray said. "All the Dragon Slayers have an Exceed and lost their dragons on the same day. So what happened to yours, Lycas?"
I sighed. "I was raised by Galaxonica, and I was still young when he left. I don't remember much of what happened after that. I don't really remember anything of my past, except for Galaxonica."
Lucy asked worried. "Didn't you have someone that took care of you after Galaxonica left?"
"That's the thing," I replied. "After he left I don't remember anything. I mean, I feel like at some point I had foster parents, but it's not clear to me. Based on the note I got, I did have parents, but I don't remember having any."
Natsu joined in on the conversation. "But Galaxonica did disappear around the time Igneel, Grandene, and Metallicana right?"
I nodded. "Based on what you guys told me of your dragons, mine disappeared at the same time the others did, July 7th, X777. But why did they disappear is the question."
Carla nodded. "It seems like it's just one question after another. Every answer seems to lead to another clue that's unexplained."
"So many secrets." I whispered.
Carla frowned. "What was that?"
"Oh," I blinked. "It was nothing."
"Are you sure?" Lucy asked.
I nodded. There's a bunch of things I couldn't tell them yet. Will I ever be able to tell them? Someday, but not now. I have to find out about that note, and that voice. But after what we talked about, I have to find my parents. Hopefully, they could explain some of this.
You're parents are dead, Lycas. I told you that. You have no family, no friends to support you. Just leave. Hannah and Caleb wouldn't approve of you, staying here with all of this..... Baggage.
I cringed a bit. God, does this thing ever stop?
I stood up. "I think I'm gonna go home early. Got a bit of a headache."
Lucy stood beside me. "I'll go with you then. We live in the same complex."
We gave our goodbyes and left the guild. Of course, Lucy knew what was really going on, I knew she could tell. But could I tell her everything?
"Ok, what's wrong?" Lucy broke my thoughts. "You've been silent since we left the guild and that isn't normal. What're you thinking about?"
My jaw dropped. "How do you know me so well? I've only been her for a month."
"Because I care," Lucy slipped her hand in mine.
"Correct," I nodded.
"And I think it has something to deal with the voice." She pecked my cheek.
I chuckled. "Correct again. Wow, I guess I'm an open book."
We arrived at the apartment building and I brought Lucy to my room, since I've already been to hers. She stepped in and I followed behind. After I shut the door, I turned around to face her. Lucy then stepped forward and draped her arms around my neck. I placed my hands on her waist and pulled her closer.
I grinned. "Now we're alone."
She pecked my lips. "What did you have in mind?"
"Something like this." I brought her closer to where our bodies were touching. I leaned forward and kissed her. I could tell she was thinking the same thing because she then kissed me back, but more sincere.
I pulled away and guided her to the bed. I laid down and she laid with me, resting her head on my chest. "Lucy?" I whispered.
"Yeah?" She whispered back.
I kissed her forehead. "I love you."
Did I just say that?! Damn! I mean... I do love her but I wouldn't have told her this early. What if she feels differently? What if-
"I love you too." Lucy gazed into my eyes.
I grinned as I reached over and turned off the lights.
