I woke up early so that I could talk to Master Makarov. Hopefully, I could get this done and over with quickly so that I can spend time with Val. I know I hadn't been gone long, but I still want to be with her today.
I quickly threw on my casual attire of a grey tank top and black cargo pants with combat boots. I wrapped up my arms and put the white bandana on to hide my ears. I made it to where I could quickly summon my katana and knife, mimicking the Re-Quip Magic, so I wouldn't have to carry it with me everywhere. I slipped on the ring Val gave me and headed out quietly.
While walking to the guild hall, I thought of what would happen now that both Himiki and Hades are dead. I knew that Grimoire Heart would be disbanded along with Death Row, but what then? I guess I'm not use to having a normal life just yet.
The guild hall came into sight and I made my way to the entrance. I wanted to make this short and simple, or at least as simple as it will get. Opening the door, I was surprised to find many guild members up this early. Everyone was getting along pretty well with the happy partying and drinking. Luckily there wasn't any fighting going on yet, but that doesn't mean there won't be any.
I nodded here and there to confirm my greetings as I made my way to Master's office. Finding myself in front of the door, I knocked lightly and waited for a response.
"Come in," Master Makarov answered.
Taking a deep breath, I stepped into the room. When his eyes met mine I knew he was ready for the report. I don't know if I was ready to answer, though.
"Sit down and tell me what happened." He nodded towards the chair.
I cleared my throat, sitting down. "I'm sorry it took longer than you wanted it to. I had some....complications afterwards that needed attended to. I made my way here as fast as possible, so I could tell you."
"So what happened?" He urged.
"It's done," I stated bluntly, seeing the relief wash over his face. "I struggled a bit with the whole 'stay under cover' thing, meaning I may or may not have blown up his guild hall. I killed him as requested. So I take it that this means that Grimoire Heart will be disbanded now?"
Master Makarov nodded. "The guild has no master, and has now been reported officially for its violation against the Magic Council. We may all sleep easier knowing that the number one dark guild is disposed of completely. Thank you, Lycas. You have brought an easier life to many people, citizens and wizards alike."
My chest felt lighter after hearing Master say that. The fact that nobody has to worry about the terrors of Grimoire Heart satisfies me. But it's my new powers that I question. I know that I can control them, but wait if they become stronger?
Master must have seen my expression because he cleared his throats be asked, "Is there something wrong, Lycas?"
I hesitated, should I tell him? "It's um, it's about what happened while I had been gone for 2 years."
"What is it?" He questioned.
"Well," I began. "As you know I learned ad created a new type of magic, but there's something...off about it. It has a darker side to it that only me and Val knows of. The other people who know are......dead. The Demon Sage Magic somehow effected my Dragon Force and turned it into what I called Demonic Dragon Force. At the time I couldn't control it but now I've got a hold of it.
"Usually, I'm bothered when I use it or it takes control. I feel as if I'm another person...a monster. When I was fighting Hades, the Demonic Dragon Force took over and I let it. I killed him with it but he had said that I was becoming the monster he planned I'd be. What does this mean, Master?"
Makarov grunted in concentration. "It sounds like the abilities you've created are somehow taking life from your energy. It could possibly be manifesting into a living being. There's not much I can tell you only because no one knows of your powers. I suggest that you try and not use your Demon Sage Mode until we figure out what's going on. But to talk on the matter, you had completed your job, with that comes a reward."
He paused and gabbed several decent sized bags from under his desk. "I do believe that this is the amount the page had said. With that I also announce you an honorary S-Class Wizard. I know you have to go through the Exams, but you've proven yourself plenty of times."
I stopped and stared at him in shock to bee what I had just been told. An S-Class Wizard?! Me?! I can't believe this is happening.
After thinking about it I grabbed one of the three large bags of Jewels. "You keep the rest, use it for the guild. I've got plenty of money to last a lifetime."
I walked out and headed straight to my apartment. I needed to see Val and explain what happened. As I rounded the corner I couldn't shake that tingling feeling you get when you're being watched. I looked around, but saw that no one was anywhere nearby.
Shrugging it off, I made my way to my apartment complex, heading up the stairs and to my door. I laid the money quietly on the desk and saw that Val was still asleep. Good, I didn't wake her up.
Taking off my boots, bandages, bandana and shirt, I slipped into some shorts and laid beside Val. Immediately, she curled up against me and I wrapped my arms around her, hugging her close.
She nuzzled her nose into the crook of my neck. "Yay, my pillow."
I chucked to myself, stroking the back of her hair. "I love you too, Val."
She smiled softly with her eyes still closed. "And I love you too, Ly."
"So I was thinking," I started. "Maybe we should buy a house."
Val sat up a bit and raised an eyebrow. "A house? Are you sure about this?"
I nodded. "Yes, we already live with each other and this apartment is getting small. Plus we have an overload of money."
"No we don't." She countered.
I nodded towards the desk, glancing at the sack of money.
Her reactions was priceless. At first, she didn't know what was on the desk then when realization set in he eyes grew as big as saucers.
Val gaped. "How if you get all that money?"
"I got it from the solo job I did for Master." I laughed.
"You never told me what it was." She puffed her cheeks.
I cleared my throat. "Well, long story short, I was sent in disguise as a rogue wizard to assassinate Grimoire Heart's Master, Hades. I succeeded but it took a while, you could tell from my injuries, remember? Anyways, I turned in the request once finished and got that as my reward. At least that's one less dark guild to deal with."
Val sat there, processing it all. Then she frowned and slapped my arm. "Dammit, Lycas! You scared me half to death! I thought that something had happened when you weren't picked up when you were supposed to be. Then I see my boyfriend being dragged unconscious out of the back of a car!! Could you even imagine how worried and stressed out I was?!?! Sometimes I think you purposefully seek out danger."
I grinned and pulled her into a hug. "I'm sorry I worried you, but we don't have to worry about anything now. It's all over and we can be alone."
She looked up at me slightly, kissing my softly on the lips. I felt the enjoyable heat spread through my face as all over my body. I smiled and returned the kiss, savoring the taste of her lips.
We separated and I brought my hand up to her face, gently stroking her cheek. "I love you, Val."
"I love you too, Ly." She replied, resting her head on my shoulder.
Finally, I can rest knowing that I don't have to look over my shoulder as if someone was watching me. No more worrying that I could lose my loved ones, lose myself. I can happily live my life without any problems. Everything should be fine.....for now at least.
