Chapter 22: The Man Who Started It All!

[STAR Labs]

"He was faster than Barry then I came in there and I was like just a bit faster than Anti-Flash." Marianne says.

"How is that possible?" Harrison asks.

"Do you think?" Joe asks.

"Before you even go there no I am not." Marianne says knowing what Joe was going to ask, "I had Caitlyn check and it was negative." Harrison looks at Barry.

"What if the speed you acquired tonight was from something that is just like the fastest man alive and can't be detected." Harrison says.

"She's not she would know. She had Caitlyn check her two weeks after we did it." Barry says.

"Then how do you explain the speed?" Harrison asks.

"Barry's blood to help me heal it may have contained a little bit of his speed." Marianne says.

"That could be possible as well." Harrison says, "And is more probable." Barry sighs.

"How do we fight something that is faster than I am? What did he mean by he'd kill me and my future?" Barry asks.

"Barry isn't the fastest man alive anymore." Marianne says, "Anti-Flash is." Joe sighs.

"Barry you and Marianne can't be here when we catch Anti-Flash. It is safer if you aren't." Joe says.

"What? Why?" Barry asks.

"Because the Anti-Flash knew something, he said he will kill you and your future. I think he means your future with Marianne so you two have to go somewhere safe." Joe says.

"Joe, I told you—" Barry says but Joe interrupts.

"No, you are going somewhere safe and that is final." Joe says. Barry sighs grabbing his jacket and rushes away with Marianne.

[Iron Heights]

Barry could only think of one place to go at the moment. Barry sets Marianne down outside Iron Heights and the two head inside together to see Henry. After they sit down and Henry sits down in front of them, Barry holds the phone up so he and Marianne can hear.

"Merry Christmas, Slugger, Marianne." Henry says.

"Merry Christmas, Mr. Allen." Marianne says. Barry gulps as he looks at Marianne.

"What's wrong, slugger?" Henry asks Barry.

"I found the man who really killed mom." Barry says, "And now Joe is afraid he will try hurting Marianne." Henry looks at Marianne who looks down.

"What are those two heroes doing about it?" Henry asks.

"Huh?" Barry asks.

"You know um Plasma Kat and what is it? The Flash? Are they trying to catch your mother's killer?" Henry says.

"I think they are powerless against him." Barry says and Marianne takes his free hand.

"We thought we could get him so the two heroes don't have to risk their lives, but we failed. Now you aren't in here because of him. You are in here because of me." Barry says and sniffles. He covers his face as he cries.

"Now Marianne might be in danger and it's all my fault." Barry says. Marianne looks at Barry and Henry sighs.

"Barry, look at me." Henry says. Barry sniffles and looks at his father.
