Chapter 42: Fast Enough!

 "My name is Barry Allen and I am the fastest man alive. When I was a child, I saw my mother killed by something impossible. My father went to prison for her murder, then an accident made me the impossible. To the outside world, I am an ordinary forensic scientist, but secretly, I use my speed to fight crime and find others like me. Beside me on my quest is my beautiful wife, Marianne Allen, one day, we will find out who killed my mother and get justice for my father. That day is today." Barry's voice says as the entire group is shown and Barry heads down to see Wells in the pipeline. Marianne joins him after a while.

"What? No belly burger? That is the only perk to living in this time. We are out of cows where I come from." Wells says.

"Thawne, if that really is your name." Barry says.

"It has been since I was born." Wells says.

"And when is that?" Barry asks.

"Once Hundred and thirty six years from now, but you are quite the genius you can figure out how." Wells says.

"Our ages are different." Marianne says.

"And the genius prize goes to the lovely Miss Allen. Congratulations by the way. I am very happy for you two." Wells says. Wells begins telling his evil plan and how he killed Barry's mother and his struggle with going home.

"You see I had planned on separating you from your true love but it had to be her plasma force that activated the speed force, because it was in fact what helped me come back. I threatened to kill your daughter so she helped me, but of course, her father and her big brother had to be there to save her. When I went back in time both of them followed me. That was when I realized I needed the plasma force again so I had to make Plasma Kat, the strongest source of plasma, lightning mixed with a few trace elements covered in the neighbor's cat fur." Wells says, "If you send me home you can do what you've always dreamed of, you can go back and save your mother, and keep your lovely wife." Barry stares at Wells in shock and Marianne walks towards Barry.

"Barry." Marianne says. Upstairs the group talks about the discovery.

"I don't know if it'll work. If you save your mother who's to say that you'll actually get to be with me?" Marianne says.

"We'll never know. Our love is so strong that it's possible. You've been in love with me since we were little kids so it's possible." Barry says holding Marianne's hands as he stares down at the engagement ring and wedding ring that was on her thin finger.

"I don't want to take the risk." Marianne says and Barry looks at her, "What if you go back there and save your mother then something happens to me? Fate turned your love from Iris to me because I reminded you of your mother, if you save your mother who is to say you won't lose me in the process."

"I have to try." Barry says.

"That's up to you. I'll be here when you get you realizing it's a stupid idea. Barry, I'm just saying it could be a bad idea." Marianne says and she kisses him then walks away.

"You need to at least try it. If you go back and save your mom who is to say you won't still be with Marianne. It's whatever fate throws you." Joe says.

"I'll do it." Barry says. Barry goes to see his father and Henry looks at him.

"But what if Marianne is right, what if you don't end up with her?" Henry asks.

"That's the tricky part. We don't know if I'll end up with her or not. I think we have a higher risk to anyway because I was already running to her already back then so maybe I will be." Barry says.
