Chapter 2

"Are you going to tell me?" Soul asked.

"Yeah." I sigh and sit across from him. We were just sitting on the floor in the hall. We were alone in the hall, everyone was in class.

"So. What's with the bandages?"

"Well you see.....my mom died when I was six. It wasn't an accident though."

"What?"

"My dad.," My voice got considerably quiet, "my dad killed my mom.."

"WHAT!?" Soul yelled, completely shocked.

"Mhmm. He's the one responsible for the bandages..."

"He-he abuses you?!"

"Yeah...I'll run any hide, but he always finds me."

"Wow," Soul paused. "That's so uncool..."

"Yeah." I stand up

"We should get to class." Soul stood up too.

"Yeah, where is it again?"

"I'm in your class so let me just walk with you."

"Er-ok." We walked to the classroom. We walked in, and the teacher, Dr. Stein, came up to us.

"Why are you late?" He asked us

"Well I got lost...."

"Because you're new ,Haley, I'll let it side. Now, Soul, why are you late."

"I was helping Haley find the room."

"Haley?" Dr. Stein asked, looking for the truth.

"It's true."

"Ok. Take your seats." We walked up and sat down. Soul sat next to a girl with blonde pigtails. She was wearing a white long sleeve shirt, a yellow sweater, and a green and white striped tie. I noticed she was wearing a red, plaid, miniskirt. She wore boots that went above her ankles.

I sit on the other side of Soul. It seemed to be the only seat left.

"Who's this?" The girl asked Soul

"Her name's Haley." Soul explained the details to her. The details of what we talked about in the hall. The girl looked horrified by the end of the story.

"Oh my goodness!" She whisper-yelled.

We went back to studying, learning, and listening to Stein go on and on about dissecting. Soon enough, class was over.

"I'm Maka, Maka Albarn." Maka turned to me.

"Oh..hi..."

"So...does your dad really-"

"Yes." I interrupt.

"I'm so sorry...."

"It's ok. Really," I sigh. "Well, I should go now." I stand up and walk away.
