Chapter 34

I woke up in the infirmary of the DWMA. Crona was sitting in the chair next to the bed I was in. His eyes were red from crying.

"C-Crona...?" I whispered hoarsely. My throat hurt from crying. It hurt from the cut in my neck, that was now wrapped in bandages. Great, that's exactly what I need, more bandages.

"Haley!?" I attempted to sit up, only to be laid back down by Crona.

"Wh-what happened? All I remember is..." My voice trailed off as I remembered. My dad...

"Maka and I found you unconscious..." I took his hand and almost started crying.

"I-I was going t-to die." A tear rolled down my cheek. Crona put his other hand on my cheek.

"Shhhh. Don't cry, Haley." I sniffed and tightened the grip in his hand. He smiled slightly. It was a sympathetic smile. "It's ok. I'm here." I stopped crying and closed my eyes to go back to sleep. I drifted back to sleep, knowing Crona was right here.

Maka walked down the hall. She was going to check on Haley. She made it to the little infirmary and knocked on the door. Crona looked up from Haley.

"Yes?" He asked.

"It's just me." Maka walked in.

"Oh hey Maka."

"How is she...?"

"She woke up just a bit ago."

"That's good. Hey, we should get to class." Maka said. Crona shook his head.

"I'm going to stay here with Haley," he looked at the girl on the bed. "She needs me here." Maka nodded, understanding.

Maka headed to class, where she met up with the rest of the group.

"Hey, where's Haley and Crona?" Tsubaki asked.

"Well, Crona and I found Haley unconscious last night. We brought her here."

"Oh." Tsubaki looked slightly sympathetic.

"Yeah, really scared Maka too." Soul added.

"You know what happened?" Black*Star asked. Maka glanced at Soul and he glanced back.

"I'm not sure if she wants me to tell you...."

"Oh. Alright." Black*Star said. Kid walked over to Maka.

"Was it her dad?" He whispered to her. Maka nodded.

They class started before they could finish talking. They all took their seats and listened to Stein.

After class Maka went up to Stein and asked him about Haley.

"Please be ok." Crona whispered. I was sound asleep, holding his hand. Crona looked at me as I slept, making sure I was ok.

"Professor Stein."

"Yes, Maka?"

"Will Haley be alright?"
