Chapter 35

"She'll be fine. Just have to keep an eye on her. She'll also have to stay in bed for a bit." Stein informed her. He gave her the smile he has given her when Soul was injured.

"Alright."

After Maka left Spirit walked up to Stein.

"It's amazing how you can fake that smile again." He said. Stein turned to Spirit.

"I'm not so sure about the cuts on her legs, they seem to be pretty deep. They were the main source of the blood loss."

"You sure she'll be ok?"

"I'm pretty sure she'll be fine in a week or two."

I woke back up later. My head was pounding. I looked over and saw Crona was alseep. I smiled a bit and looked around. Crona woke up, just as Stein came in.

"I see you're awake, Haley." Stein said.

"Yeah."

"How are you feeling?"

"Well my head is pounding..."

"Ok." Stein went off to get some pills. He came back, handing me the pills. I took them.

"I'll be back in a little while to check on you." Stein said and left, closing the door behind him. Crona turned to me.

"Hey, you alright?" He asked me.

"Y-yeah."

"Do you want to tell me what happened?" I nodded slightly.

"I was walking to the library, and my dad came up from behind me," I held back the tears that were burning in my eyes. "He hurt me worse then he ever has before...." I blinked and a few tears rolled down my cheek. Crona wiped the tears and looked at me.

"I'm here. I'll always be here. I won't let him hurt you." That just made me want to cry more. The thought that someone cared about me. Why would someone ever care about me?

A few more tears rolled down my cheeks before I stopped crying. Later Dr. Stein came in. He checked on me and turned to Crona.

"Crona, it's getting late. You should probably go back to your room." Dr. Stein said. It wasn't much of a 'you can' it was more of a 'you have to.'

"But.." Crona began to protest.

"Crona. Go get some sleep. I'll be fine."

"O-ok..." He kissed my forehead and left. I drifted off to sleep soon after that.

Maka and Soul were at their apartment. Maka was pacing around a bit.

"Oi, Maka. If you keep pacing like that you'll make a groove in the floor." Maka stopped pacing.

"Aren't you worried!?"

"Nah, Haley's strong. She'll be fine."

"Maybe you're right..."

"Of course I'm right, Maka." He put his hand on her shoulder.

"Ok, ok." Maka went to her room and laid down. Before she fell alseep she kept whispering questions to herself.

"I really hope she's ok. She's never had a friend before. Is she ok?"
