The Fifth Member for a Summer or Two

Chapter Twenty-One

"Luke! Annie! How are you?" John Feldmann called as we walked into the studio.

"John!" Luke said giving him a hug and shaking his hand.

"Now, I haven't officially met you, Annie. So, it is very nice to meet you." He said smiling and shaking my hand.

"Same to you." I giggled.

He led us over to some couches and we sat down.

"So, I've been told that you have a song written?" He said.

"Yeah..." I said fiddling with my hands.

"Well let's see it!" He laughed.

I chuckled and slowly pulled the crinkled and worn paper out of my pocket and handed it to Luke. He unfolded it and handed it to John. His face went blank as he concentrated to read over the lyrics. He set the paper down on his lap and looked over at us.

"These are fabulous." He said smiling. "I think this would make a lovely acoustic song."

"That's what I thought! She has some chords written. Would you like to hear those?Would you just like to hear us sing it?" Luke asked.

"You have music written too?" He asked.

"Yeah. I've been working on this song since the end of May." I told him.

He got up and left the room and came back carrying 2 guitars. He handed one to me and Luke took the other one.

"Whenever you're ready." He said smiling.

I smiled back and let out a long breath before starting the little riff I wrote for the beginning. We continued on and played the entire song for him.

He sat, leaned over with his hand over his mouth, leaning on his knees.

"Well?" Luke asked.

He sat there silent for a few minutes longer.

"I like it." He said, sitting up and smiling.

"We just need to get some more depth, I think. Some bass, a little drums, a piano part. I know I said it would be a good acoustic, but I'm thinking maybe just a light song would be better." He said.

"I've been thinking about some piano parts actually. Just messing around though." I said.

"Well, come on! Let's go play around with them!" He chuckled standing up.

I looked over to Luke and he was just grinning away at me. We got up and followed John into another room.

We spent the majority of the day in the studio with John messing around with my song, trying to work it out. I was pretty happy with what we came up with.

When me and Luke finally came home, we walked into a silent house. I walked into the kitchen and found a note in Avery's handwriting.


Me and the boys went out to see a movie. Figured you and Luke wouldn't mind the alone time. ;) See you around 9!
