That Friday, I came home crying.
No one was home. The twins were sleeping in their stroller when I fell flat on my bed.
CPS much?
I cried for Anna who was going to be a teen mom. I cried for James because he was going to be a teen dad. I cried some more for James for our complicated relationship. Most of all, I cried for myself.
"Why can't I be happy?" I whispered to my ceiling.
As if someone was really up there, thunder and rain flashed against my window. The twins started crying.
Question, answered.
Friday - 4:25 PM
Carrying two babies around hurt my arms. How did Natalie do it? Oh yeah, she has Conner. A guy who loves her.
I moaned quietly as the babies were starting to drift asleep in my arms.
Did James go to the prom with someone else? A tear rolled down my cheek. My first heartbreak. And it hurt like a motherfucker.
The babies sighed peacefully. A knock on the door made me jump.
I looked to the babies in my arm to the door. The knocking could get louder. There is a storm outside.
Peyton and Paige seem to like their stroller so I walked up the stairs to at a time and set them down.
Just like I predicted, the knocking got louder and longer.
I closed the door behind me and raced down the stairs.
Into the peep hole my brown eyes went.
A blue eyes stared back at me.
"Ah!" I jumped away like the door was on fire.
One short knock. I unlocked the top lock. Then the bottom. The doorknob twisted right. It's opening slowly.
And there he was. James Baldwin, soaking wet, with a frown on his face.
"Hello." He greeted.
"Hi." I squeaked.
He raised an eyebrow. "May I come in?"
I stepped to the side so he could walk in. I shut the door behind him.
"Why are you-?"
"The dance is over." James interrupted.
"Oh."
"Aren't you wondering who I took?"
Yes. "Not really..."
"Anna volunteered..." My heart sunk. So did my head.
"But I said no." My snapped my head up. "Wha-?" Once again, he interrupted. "Kylie, why can't you see that I love you?"
I sighed. He loves me, he loves me, he loves me!
"Then why did you leave?"
He chuckled. But I found this far from amusing. "Kylie! I was upset."
I started to smile. "I hate it when you're upset then."
James laughed.
The following Monday
"You missed everything!" Briana said dramatically.
"Really?" I faked shock.
"Yeah, Rachel and Mia got in a fight over Matthew and..." Nick continued.
My life seems to be in order. My two bestfriendswere back by my side. I'm finally not the third wheel. So why does it feel like something's off? Was it because I knew someone hated me? Yeah...Anna hate me. And according to Briana, she was kicked out of school.
Why can't my life just be perfect for just one minute?
It got silent for a minute. I looked to my left, then my right. Briana and Nick were gone! So was everyone else in the hallway! What the....
The second bell answered my question. Ring!
Holy crap, I'm late! Thanks Briana. And Nick!
I raced down the hallway. Up a flight of stairs. And then skidded to a second corner.
Room 217. Advanced Math with Mr. Nigel. The teacher who hate me so much! I'm getting a detention today. I know it.
"My SAT's! 'eff me Gob." I grumbled.
Mr. Nigel stood in the front, hands on his hips. "Carly, you're late." He barked.
"I'm Kylie, sir."
"Yeah, I know. Now sit down, Carly." The way he said it was almost taunting. Like he's enjoying the power he can get over me.
I clenched my fist. "Mr. Nigel, my name is Kylie."
Mr. Nigel glared at me. "Do you want a detention?"
"Just say my name right!"
I must have been too loud because everyone looked at me with a glare for ruining their test time.
"Go to the office Miss Henderson! NOW!"
I pushed open with as much force as an angry bear. "Fine. Motherfudger!" I screamed over my shoulder.
As I got closed to Principal Neal's office, my anger vanished. Was I really capable of being that angry? And my cursing, it was the worse.
My head dipped into shame and I ran into the door. Main Office.
My Gob, help me. Elaine and her Adventure Time-ness is rubbing off on me. Elaine. I sighed sadly and pushed open the door.
"Name." A pale-faced oldie sat at her computer with bugged eyes.
"K-Kylie Henderson."
She jutted her pasty thumb in the direction marked Principal Neal. "Go there."
I cracked the door open a bit. It was surprisingly quiet. What, no bad ashes?
"I've been expecting you." I gulped and stepped in fully.
"Mr. Nigel said he's having problems with you." He turned around in his chair and folded his hands.
"He called me Carly!" I blurted.
