Eight.

One week later...

The birds are chirping happily. I wish I could have their happiness. I notice that Milly is missing from the bed and I hear the sponge bob theme song combing from outside the door. I laugh a little and get up.

"Hey Milly. Did you sleep okay?" She nods and focuses on the TV. SpongeBob is doing some pretty weird stuff with Patrick today.

"Lia can we have breakfast? I'm hungry." I nod and get her a bowl of coco pops. She eats them quickly.

"So what do you wanna do today?"

"Can we go to a playground?" I nod. We go and get dressed for the day. As we're leaving someone knocks on the door. I answer it and there stands Cameron in an army suit.

"Here." He hands me a white envelope.

"What's going on?" He looks down at his shoes.

"I'm going into the army for 6 months and hopefully I will come back. I wanted to say my goodbyes before I leave later today." I start to tear up.

"CAMMY!" Milly runs out and Cameron picks her up.

"Hey Milly. How are you?" She giggles and he pokes her cheeks.

"Why are you leaving?" I ask.

"I know I did something bad last week and I've been thinking. Why would you want me anyways? I'm just some guy you met who gave you a chocolate bread roll. I want to get my mind off things so I'm-"

"You think going back to the army will take your mind off things? What's wrong with you of course I would want you." I start crying. Milly has a confused look on her face.

"I'm sorry Aaliyah, I've got to go or my bus will leave without me." He puts down Milly and she looks like she's about to cry.

"Let it leave without you, don't go Cameron." He comes closer to me and hugs me.

"I'm sorry for hurting you Lia." He kisses my forehead.

"Where are you going Cammy?" He bends down to Milly.

"I'm going to be gone for a while okay. I'm going to the War Land where I will make everything better for everyone. I need you to look after Lia while I'm gone okay. She needs your strength t help her." She nods and then wraps her tiny arms around him.

"Have fun in War Land Cammy." He smiles and nods. He stands up and takes one last look at me.

"I'll see you soon."

"Do you promise?" I say. He nods and sticks his finger out.

"I promise." I wrap my pinkie around his and he kisses me one last time. "Goodbye." He lets go and leaves. I walk back inside and sits on the couch.

"Are we going to the playground now?" Milly asks. She has no idea what just happened. I will stay strong though and still have some happiness. I let a tear slip but I smile at her.

"Sure. Come on let's go have some fun." She cheers and runs out of the room. I follow her. I go slowly but make sure she's still in sight. This is going to be a tough 6 months.
