"We are here today for the case of Prior against Highland. What's the story?" She looks at me.
"Well I'm a foster daughter to Lydia. She took me in and was nice for the first few months and then got very abusive and has been since I was very young. Last year when I was 19, she started yelling at me. She kicked me out of the house and I had nowhere to go. Um I promised Milly that I would go back for her which I did. The next day I met Cameron and then we went back to The Prior house where Milly was. I found her in the basement strapped to a wall and Lydia was growing knives at her. I have evidence of this event as well." The judges eyes are wide.
"May I see it?" I nod and get it up on my phone. I hand it to the guard and he takes it up to her. She plays it and her eyes are wide. "This is terrible. Ms Prior what is your say to this story."
"I did use to be abusive to Aaliyah but I stopped. I haven't hurt her since she was 10."
"But still you were hurting an innocent child! And one of 5 years old!"
"Yes ma'am but I have anger issues. I have to take medication every single day and if I don't then I get aggressive and these things happen. I have video evidence to of me reading children's stories to Aaliyah and she was perfectly happy."
"I'm sorry Ms Prior but I don't want to see those videos. This one is highly affected to you provided by Miss Highland. I hereby sentence you 25 years in prison for child abuse and an attempt of murder. This case is closed." She smashed the hammer thingy and hands me back my phone. I start to cry and I pick up Milly.
"I'm so happy for you Lia!" Maria says. I put down Milly and hug her. Everyone hugs me and congratulates me. Someone taps my shoulder. I turn around and see the judge.
"Miss Highland, I understand that your childhood would've been a living hell and you may be having a hard time now, so I wanted to give you this." She hands me a slip of paper. I look at it and it's a $10,000 dollar cheque.
"This is for me?" She nods.
"When I heard about this case I instantly took your side. I didn't want to go through this court duty today but I had to. I just wanted to say that you won, I didn't need any evidence. When I was young, my father used to abuse me as well. I still have scars to this day. I knew your pain so I wanted to help you."
"Thank you so much this means so much to me. This is going to help me and Milly out a lot. I'm very thankful for you being here." I hug her and she laughs.
"It wasn't really a problem. It was a donation from multiple people and a couple of small businesses. But you're welcome." I pull away from the hug and thank her again. She leaves and I look back at the group.
"We should go out for dinner to celebrate!" Nash says. We laugh and agree. We walk out and I look for Milly.
"Hey Cam where's Milly gone?" He shrugs.
"I thought she was with you." He says.
"Yeah and I thought she was with you." We hear a loud bang. The group stops and security guards go to investigate. I start panicking and run after them. I kick my heels off on the way and run faster.
"LIA COME BACK!" I hear Cameron shout. I follow the guards down a long ball and see them kneel down. I panic even more now.
"EXCUSE ME!" I shout at them. They stand up when they see me and when I see what they see I fumble with my steps and trip over. I roll right next to her and start crying.
