3 months later...
"You've got to tell her. It's best telling her now so you've still one month left!" I hear someone say.
"Mom I've wanted to tell her for so long. I just can't. She will be so hurt and I don't like seeing her hurt." I open my eyes and sit up. Cameron wasn't next to me.
"Cameron. Today's the day. You need to tell her. Give her the letter as well." I get out of bed and walk to the door.
"I can't mom." I walk out and Cam and Gina look at me.
"I'll be downstairs." Cam nods and Gina goes down.
"What can't you tell me Cam?" He walks up and over me into the room.
"Aaliyah... I-" he used my whole name. Nothing good barely happens when he uses my first name.
"Cameron what is it?" He hands me an envelope which is addressed to him.
"I'm sorry." He stands up and walks out of the room. I take the letter out and read it.
Dear Mr Dallas,
It has come to our attention that many countries are now under attack and we don't have many soldiers with us at the moment. The army would like you back to defend our country and help others in need.
We will need you to come in on the 20th of November, 2015. This is an urgent call and we are very sorry that you will have to leave your family again.
Kind regards
- Lieutenant Mason.
I drop the paper and cry into my hands. This can't be happening. Not at this time when I need him most. I stand up and walk out of the room and see Cameron crying on the floor.
"Cameron..." I sit down next to him and he puts his head on my lap.
"I'm sorry I have to leave you."
"This isn't your fault. I will still love you and you know that." He nods. I play with his hair as he calms down.
"I don't want to leave you though. Who knows how long I'll be gone for. I may not be here for our baby either. This is the time when you need me." He sits up and looks at me.
"It's your duty to serve our country. You have to go." I feel a tear drip down my cheek.
"I know. Why was I so stupid to even join the army?"
"Because you're a strong man who cares about others and not just himself. You wanted to help everyone because there are bad people out there. It wasn't a stupid decision Cameron."
"But I'm leaving my loved ones. I'm leaving you." I sigh and hold him.
"I'll be okay."
