Twenty Two.

"Um hello?" I say.

"Hello is this Aaliyah Highland?"

"This is."

"We understand a while ago your foster mother went to prison. She's showed her time well and she would like to take custody of the young child we understand that you have with you. Milly Prior?" I felt my heart beating faster.

"Yes I have her."

"Great. Okay we will need you and Ms Prior to attend the Los Angeles Court on the 17th of May this year. If you do not arrive there will be another set date."

"This is wrong, who am I speaking with!?" I shout.

"Uh-h Michelle Russell."

"I'm sorry Michelle but that foster mother would never be a real mother. She will never take care of children if it's the last thing she could do. She only got me for be money. She got the other kids for the money. It was all about the money for her. When I go I will win this battle. I won't leave until I do." I hang up the phone and burst into tears.

"What's wrong Lia?"

"Just as my day could get any better, my foster mom wants custody of Milly. I've got to go into court next week. What if she wins Cameron?"

"She won't. You've got that video which explains a lot and I've seen what she's done. We will win and you will have custody of Milly then. You're old enough to have her as her own. And also, my mom and Sierra will be there and they will support us, you, through everything that happens. They love you Lia." I smile.

"This is why your the best boyfriend ever." He kisses my lips and then we get up.

"When did the movie finish?"

"Ages ago. You've been a sleep for about 3 hours." Wow. Best nap ever. We go into the kitchen and he grabs a plate of cookies and some milk from the fridge.

"If I've been a sleep then where's everyone else?" I ask.

"Milly got bored cause the cookies were finished being made, you were a sleep and she didn't want to wake you up by watching the TV. So my mom and Sierra took her to the playground not that long ago." I nod and take the cookies from him. He whines.

"Sharing is caring." I bite the cookie. He laughs. I eat a couple more cookies. They taste so good.

"Wanna go watch another movie?" I nod and he takes the plate of cookies and runs to the lounge.

"Hey give me the cookies!" I shout and chase after him.

"Come and get them!" He runs around the whole house almost. At one stage the cookies almost fell off the plate but they didn't. He ran back into the lounge and sat himself on the couch. He didn't move, just sat there panting and holding the plate. I go over and sit on his lap facing him.

"Gimme the cookies." I try to put on my best puppy dog eyes. He laughs and puts one in my mouth.

"Your such a little kid sometimes Lia." I smile and look at him. He's looking at my lips so I lean in and kiss his. He puts down the plate of cookies and puts his hands on my waist. I wrap my arms around his neck. We kept going like this and I'm pretty sure it would've gone further but the girls came home. Gina was panicking and Milly was crying as she was held in the arms of Sierra.

"What happened!?" I asked and ran over to them.

"She was going down the big metal slide and her leg got caught and she got burnt all up her leg." Sierra shows me her leg and I felt sick. Gina comes running back with ice and cold water.

"Mom how come you didn't just call an ambulance or something?" Cameron asks rushing over.

"I was panicking I didn't know what to do." She looked like she was about to cry. "I'm sorry Lia this wasn't meant to happen." I go over to her and hug her.

"It's okay Gina. You don't need to be sorry. Things like this happen okay." She nods.

"You'll be a great daughter-in-law one day." I smile and she pulls back.

We take care of Milly and she said she wanted to stay the night. I agreed and we got put in the guest room.

"This beds squishy!" Milly whines. It wasn't a big bed so I couldn't fit on it.

"I know baby." Cameron comes in.

"Everything okay in here?" He asks. Milly shakes her head.

"There isn't enough room for me and Lia." He laughs and sits on the edge of the bed.

"Lia could sleep in my bed and you could sleep in here with Jaxx?" He says. Her lies light up.

"Okay!" Cameron calls Jaxx and the small puppy comes running into the room and jumps on the bed. He was so cute.

"Okay goodnight Lia. Night Cammy." I kiss her forehead.

"Goodnight Milly." I say. Cameron says goodnight as well and we walk out the door. He leads me into his bedroom and closes the door. "Nice room." I say. The walls were blue and basically his whole room was blue. Except for the bed.

"This was from when I was like 16 and I was still living with my mom. So let's just deal with it for one night." He goes into some draws and gets out two sets of clothes and chucks me one. He didn't have a bathroom in here so I just changed in front of him. We are dating so it's okay. When I'm done I jump on his bed.

"This is so soft." I roll up in the blankets and close my eyes. Cameron turns out the light and jumps next to me. He was so warm.

"Goodnight Lia." He kisses my temple and pulls me close to him. I smile.

"I love you Cameron." I whisper before I sleep.

"I love you more Aaliyah." I smile.
