MACKENIE
Emily and Mary both texted me saying they could come. I waited excitedly for them to get here at 3:30. 3:25, 3:26, 3:27 I say to myself.
Mary is the first to arrive. Her mom brings her and asks to talk to my mom, so I let her in and the adults head to my parents room.
"Hey. Is Emily here yet?" She says as we hear a knock on the door.
"Yup." I say. I open the door and let Emily in. Her dad wants to talk too, so I lead him to the master bedroom.
"Let's go up to my room." I say and we all stomp up to the second floor and shut my door.
"Just so you guys know, I'm not exactly sure how to 'activate' my powers yet." Emily says. Mary and I nod our heads in agreement.
"Neither do I." I say
"Nope." Says Mary.
"We can just try." Emily says. She looks around the room, trying to find something to morph into. She eventually picks up my pillow, squeezes it tight, and shuts her eyes. After about 15 seconds of this, I begin to question wether it will work. I also wonder what Mary's power is.
"It's ok, Emily. You don't have to..." Right then, I see Emily melt away, from her legs to her head, then two pillows flop on my floor, one flat down, the other propped straight up. I can't believe my eyes. Emily has turned into a pillow.
"Whoa!" Mary says. The pillow squirms around, and I can tell she's trying to walk.
"Ugh! Why... Can't.... I get.....Up??!??"
Emily says, and it freaks me out because I can't see her mouth, it's like a ghost is speaking to you, and you can't see it.
I begin trying to reason out why she can't walk. "Maybe it's because a normal pillow can't walk."
"Yeah, well a normal pillow can't talk, either." Mary says, matter-of-factly. "Or can they? Maybe they have a secret life, like the toys in Toy Story." She adds. I let out a small laugh, then go back to thinking of reasons. "Maybe your 'legs' aren't strong enough."
"Yeah, you should walk on all fours!" Mary yells out, laughing at her own joke.
"I'm just ready to change back." Emily says, as we see the pillow scrunch up, and I can tell she's focusing. After about 30 seconds, she releases, giving up. "I can't." She says. "I can't change back..... I can't change back! I CANT CHANGE BACK, MARY!!! FUDGE!!!" She begins to flail around and panic, and so do I, wondering what to do. I look around the room, not that this even has any purpose, it's just instinct.
"Well, you had to touch it to morph into it, so... Uh, no, there's gotta be something else." Mary says, spilling out her ideas. "Maybe you have to focus more... Maybe,...... Uh, man! Maybe you gotta hold the pillow again???" I see Emily scrunching up again, flailing around and then picking up the other pillow and then instantly changing back to herself, still freaking out.
"Emily, you're back now! Calm down!" Mary says. Emily looks down at her feet then looks at her arms. She lets out a breath.
"Thank The Lord! Hahaha! If I had been a pillow the rest of my life!!! Oh!!!" She says, laughing crazily at the same time.
When we all calm down, she finally asks, "So what can you do Mary?"
"Man, I got super strength. You're so jealous." She says, holding her arms out at an angle, trying to show off her muscles, even though we all know she only has tiny ones. But who am I to judge? I have less than none. "Ballin' man!" Emily does her hysterical laugh again, (not that she's crazy, it's just the way she is).
"Haha! Mary will kill us all! Haha! Good thing we are her friends and not one of her many enemies!" Emily cries out.
"Yeah, like freakin' Lance. You jab me again mister, I'm gonna..." She says as she sends out random punches. I let out a small laugh.
"You gotta prove it somehow." Emily says.
"Yeah, but I don't wanna break Mackenzie's stuff. I'm not a bully, man! You callin' me a bully? Did you already forget my powers?" She says getting louder and louder and closer to her face. Emily starts her laughing again and says,
"OoooooooOoooOoOoOo-K Mary!" She laughs a little more and takes in a few more breaths before saying, "Mackenzie, what can you do?" I hesitate, then quietly say,
"I have Electric powers." They look confused, so I put my hands out in front of me as if showing a measurement. I close my eyes and try to remember the time I made Emma fly off her bike. As I begin to feel the sharp feeling up and down my arms like before, random lighting strikes replace the darkness of my closed eyes. All of the racing pieces quickly gathered all together, stopped, the jolted out of me. I could feel bolts zapping back and forth between my hands. I open my eyes and see the light. Mary and Emily look mesmerized.
"Zap something." Mary says.
"Like what?" I ask. We all begin to look around the room.
"That water bottle, over there." Mary says, and points to a water bottle on my dresser. I turn to it, praying I don't hit the wall. I hold out my hand and the same thing plays over again. The zapping, the lightning, them collecting, then, BAM! The bottle melts away, rand water spills onto the floor.
"Great thinking, guys." Emily says.Sorry this was only in Mackenzie's perspective, but the next two chapters will be equally as long and just about Emily or Mary. :)
