EMILY
Struggling doesn't help. It just makes me exhausted.
I'm in a dark room by myself on a ship, tied up with rope and duct tape, yet all I can think about is a dream I had a long time ago. My two parents... locked in cells...
Suddenly, my thoughts are interrupted by screams, followed by loud crashes, like gates closing. The screaming continues.
I continue to try to break free, because I hate the feeling that I can't control what's going on.
I hear footsteps, and the door opens.
"Shi....." I have to turn away and cover my eyes, because beyond the door, the lights are blinding.
When I turn back, I can only see a black figure.
"Hiya, Darling." It's for sure Emma.
"Nice meeting you here! You were just the person I was looking for. I need something, and I was thinking about asking other people, but you are just the perfect person." She strides in with such confidence, and when she says, "perfect person" she caresses my cheek.
"What the f*ck is this, Emma?" I ask.
"Ah ah ah! No cursing in here sweetie." And with that, electricity pulses throughout my body. I squeeze my eyes shut, and clench my fists. I don't want her to see that it hurts.
"Oh, I'm so sorry! It was an accident. I would never do anything like that on purpose." Another zap.
"Let me get back to my friends now Emma." I stare her straight in the eyes.
"Friends? What friends?" She walks in circles around me, waving her hands around a lot.
"Do you think... No... You couldn't.... That'd be completely stupid!" She stops in front of me, looks me up and down, then tilts her head, using body language to say, 'well....''. She then shakes her head.
"You think Mackenzie and Mary are your friends... Don't you?!" She says it as if it's the craziest thing she's ever heard.
"Oh and so you want me to think you're being an amazing f*cking friend?? Yes, Mary and Mackenzie are my friends and I am getting back to them." I move around again, and see that my hands are completely covered in duct tape, so I calm down, I secretly move my fingers around to loosen the tape without her knowing.
I am suddenly shocked again after a moment of silence. Sh*t, I cursed.
She laughs loudly, but it's not... her laugh. It's like she's someone else. However, I guess that's easy for me to say, I did just figure out that she has been trying to get rid of us our entire "friendship".
"No no no no.... Would your friends abandon you?"
"No one ever abandoned me!"
"Quiet!" Another zap. "So Mary running out of the room while you were attacked to go get Mackenzie, even though it got you captured, you don't call that abandoning?"
"She wasn't getting Mack, we don't even know where she is! She went to get help!"
A sympathetic frown spreads across her face. I am suddenly filled with energy from wanting to punch her. Instead, I keep moving my fingers around. Good thing I let my nails grow out, because after a while I can start to slowly cut through.
"You poor unfortunate soul." She says. "That's what I thought at first. Don't believe me? Just look."
She turns around and a large screen that I didn't see before turns on. It looks like a security camera. Mackenzie is laying on the middle of the floor, blood spilling from her waist.
"What the f*ck?!" Pain surges through me. I see Mary run down the hall, pick her up, and run into a healing-power room. Then, the recording ends.
"She just stays there and hides. She never goes back for you, Emily. She probably doesn't even know you're gone." She says. She looks sorry for me, but I know it's all a trick.
"No, she..." I try to think if something to say. I just can't believe it. Did she really not go back for me? She must of edited the video. But what else could that of been before? Wait...
"Why was Mackenzie even bleeding in the first place?"
"Well, back where she was with James, she wasn't able the use any of her powers. When she tried the first time again, she electrocuted herself, and burnt through her skin." She says.
That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. I choose not to believe her, but I don't wanna hear her talk about her lame excuse.
"That's just one thing, and Mack probably needed her help more than I did."
"In the healing-power room? Everyone with those powers heals any wound within seconds. She could've just dropped her off and ran back for you. But she didn't. You, however, were captured by me, and couldn't escape. You're lucky I got you. They were like, trying to got you killed or something."
I interrupt her. "I seem to recall a certain someone saying that all along they were never my friend, that they were sent to Earth to kill us. Sound familiar, b*tch?" I ask, having broken through a fourth of the duct tape.
"Excuse me?" Zap. That one hurt ten times worse than any of the others. I let out a scream. I hear one in the distance, screaming a word that I can't make out.
"Yeah, that was what I was sent to do, but if I really wanted to do it, I would of killed you already. That's why I went back for Mackenzie. Why I killed some of the guards there, why I tried to cover up my face and hide while I did it. The only reason I hurt you and Mary is because of security cameras. I didn't want James to find the footage and see me helping you guys. But for Mary to just leave you like that! I can't believe it!"
I want to not believe her, but it's hard. It sounds.... true...
