EMILYI stare at my two parents, locked in cells, with walls of nails slowly coming closer to them. James, a particularly tallish person with black, curly hair and devilish black eyes, is moving the walls, and I want to kill him now more than ever before. I cry as I watch them screaming and crying out.
"Emily, Emily... Come on Emily." I hear my mom say in the calmest voice. Why is she suddenly so calm? My dad is still screaming, why isn't she?
"Mom?"
"Come on Emily, you've got to get ready for school. You've got a big day today."
School? There is no time for school.
Then I wake up, my face is sticky and my throat hurts. I must have screamed and cried in my sleep.
I look at my mom, holding my twin baby brothers in her arms, all three of them of them with tired eyes. I must have woken them with my screams. Of course she probably rushed to my crying brothers and not my crying self. How sweet.*************************************
When I get to lunch, I realize none of us (Mary, Mackenzie, and I) are talking. Mackenzie usually keeps to herself, but Mary can blabber on and on.
"So why did y'all get picked up yesterday?" Mackenzie asks, breaking the silence.
I debate wether to tell the truth or not. The truth that I have powers and so do my parents. The truth that someone is coming to take over Earth. The truth that I will help stop him. Or at least attempt to.
I then remember that my dad mentioned their parents in the talk we had. Maybe they had the same talk! Maybe they are going to help fight of James too! Holy Fudge-Nuggets, what if we all have powers. "My friends and I have special powers." I tell myself, trying to believe it. I open my mouth to tell them, but stop myself. What if they don't have powers? It's not like I can't trust them, but it's too strange! And I defidently couldn't tell them here, not with many other kids around. But I'm going to tell them soon.
"It was crazy.." I say. "I'll tell you later though."
Mary and Mackenzie get weird looks on their faces, and I can tell, something weird happened to them too.MACKENZIE
If you've ever told anyone that you have powers, you kind of expect them to do one of the following:[] not believe you, or
[] freak outWhen we were in the hallway after being dismissed from lunch, Emily waved Mary and me over to the girls bathroom that is so old, no one uses it.
When we get in, I am shaking and my arms are going back and forth.
"So yesterday, this crazy thing happened. When I got home, my dad sat me down and started talking about this place named Guyde, and..." Emily begins to say. Guyde, Guyde, Guyde, I remember this... From somewhere....
It is then that I realize that we are ALL shaking. I see that Mary has a look of confusion and disbelief on her face.
"... Then he started talking out this place called Alasi and this dude named James..." This sounds so familiar!!!! I am racking my brain trying to remember it. Then I do.
I begin to jump up and down, flailing my arm up and down. I am so excited that we heard that same thing and I want to tell her, but I know it's rude to interrupt. Not that this doesn't interrupt her.
"Mackenzie!" She says, taking a step back from me and tilting her head. "What in the world is wrong with you?"-we interrupt this book to let you know what you should totally check out _thatonerandomgirl_ and ErisInfinity240 You may continue :) -
"Guys, I have powers." I quickly admit. I close both eyes, afraid of their reaction. After about 3 seconds, I slowly open them. They have both let out a breath, and their shaking has calmed a little.
"Me too." They say in unison.
MARY
I remember telling my mom last night, which was a lot harder and more serious than this.
"What can you guys do?" This is so awkward and cool at the same time. Ya know, just your three, average, teenage, girls, just talking about their powers. Yup. Totally normal, man.
Mackenzie hesitates, while Emily blurts out, "Turn into a bush."
"What?" I ask. What an odd power.
"Well, I've only turned into a bush before, and only done it once, so maybe I can turn into other things, but I'm not sure." She replies, messing with the rope hanging off of her backpack straps.
"Dude! You should turn into Mary!" Mackenzie says, excitedly.
"Yeah, you could go to P.E. for me." I say, letting out a small laugh. I know she won't take my place, but she looks willing to try to turn into me.
"Ok" she says, but then looks at her watch. "12:03, guys, bells gonna ring in two!"
"Man!" I say as we all rush out of the bathroom.
"Ask your parents if you can come over tonight." Mackenzie says. "They're sure to say yes if they know why." She winks.
We're not the kinda kids that can be all like, "wanna come to my place tonight?" "Yeah, sure". We have to plan about a month ahead. But I do agree that if they know why, they will agree to it.
We all speed down the halls and I make it just in time for 5th period, smiling all the way there.
