MARY
We're in a ship to Alasï. Its so quiet. No one talks, I don't think anyone knows where to start, so I try to start a conversation.
"So, what was it like, with James and everything?" I say.
"I was strapped up on a bed, and I had all of my power drained. I think he was gonna put it in himself, so he could use my powers. However, I'm guessing my body can regenerate my power, cause I can still fly and stuff now.
"I also was sent into a small, pitch black room. James tried to drown me in there, and I almost did. But then... Emma sent me... back in time. She helped me escape and make it back... but then she... she..." She wipes a tear from her cheek. "She shot me. And she ran off, to hurt you and Emily... but then you came back, and you're okay... but... Emily is gone... it's all cause I'm useless and was just sitting there bleeding on the ground! I should of told you not to pick me up!! I should've! I'm sorry. This is all my fault." We sit in silence again. I'm not good at this kind of stuff.
"No it's not, it's ok. We'll find Emily and bring her back."
I sit there awkwardly and play with my thumbs while Mack silently wipes away tears and sniffles a few times. After a few minutes, she gets up.
"I'll be in the gym if anyone needs me." I forgot to mention that this ship is really big. There's a gym, a basketball court, a library, a pool, and we all have our own room. Too bad we'll only be here for another day. I could really use the time to relax and get myself together. Too much has been happening too fast.
------------------
"Mackenzie! Jack!" They both run into the office Jack has set up on the ship.
"What? Are we there yet?" Mackenzie asks.
"No, their ship has just... stopped. Maybe the screen froze, but I doubt it."
I say.
"This would be the perfect time to go in and attack."
"No, I think it's a trap. They gotta know that we're following them. They're just leading us right where they want us." Mackenzie says.
"Honestly, I'd rather take the chance that we get attacked by people and maybe save Emily than, what? Wait for them to move again? Stay and hide while they do whatever they want with Emily?" I say. I really see no point in waiting. If they know that we're following them, then they'll know where we hide.
"Ok, fine. But if something really bad happens, like really bad I'm gonna say, 'I told you so,' alright?"
"Deal."
"So what's the plan, then?" Jack asks.
"Well, we don't really know the layout of their ship, or who's there and how many people are there, so just prepare for the worst."
"Right." Mack puts on a smirk smile. "I stole some power shots too, we can use those and have extra power, which will defiantly help incase there are a lot of guards. Especially invisibly."
"YAAAS!" I say.
"Yay! I'm so excited!" Jack says. Oh right. I didn't think about him. Mackenzie and I give each other a look. We both know he might screw something up.
She mouths, "It'll be fine," but I disagree, and shake my head.
Before I can say anything else, Mack tells Jack that he can get some extra powers, too. I sigh, I give her an annoyed look, but she just smiles.
"Alright then, I'll go get my bag." She heads into her room and returns with a black messenger bag. After digging around, she pull out two shots of some blue goop. "I only have two invisibility shots, so I'll give it to you two. I can just fly above everything and hopefully no one will see me." She hands them out to us. I hesitate and wish I had someone else to inject it into me. Shots are terrible. "Try to aim away from any visible veins. That way they get to your P.V.s and not your actual 'blood' veins."
Great. I look away and count to five. I inject myself, and it hurts for a few seconds then goes away, leaving my arm kind of sore. I'll have to do this three more times.I end up with strength, invisibility, super speed, laser eyes, and zero point energy.
Mack gets electricity, flying, X-Ray vision, zero point energy, and the power to freeze things.
Jack has super speed, invisibility,
and the power to set things on fire. He didn't want to have to deal with any more shots, so that's all he got. That's gonna be bad for us later, I think to myself. Why can't he just man up?MACKENZIE
We have finally approached their ship, all of us having half mastered our newest powers. Our only plan for now is to all go in invisible and flying, and for Mary and I to use our zero point energy to move stuff around as a distraction. Then, we'll run around and try to find Emily.
We all wait as a large door opens in the back of the ship, leading us the other ship. (Ship ship ship) We don't says anything, we jut nod at each other.
This is it. We might meet up with James, though I doubt if they wanted us here, that they would risk us getting to him. There's probably a lot of traps everywhere.
I pick up Mary first, give her a "piggy-back ride" and fly her over. I go back for Jack (who is significantly heavier than Mary, BTW) and we are all there.
It's a big black ship, with lots of doors and windows, which we try to stay clear of.
"Over there." Mary whispers, and points out a small door (using a small stick we found) towards the back, that's kinda old and eroded, like it hasn't been used in a while. We all head over, at least I think we do, I can see Mary's stick move, but nothing else.
The hatch opens too loudly for my liking, but at least it wasn't locked, like I expected.
"There's no ladder, we'll have to jump." Jack says.
"No no no! I'll fly you down, it's a lot quieter. Hop on my back." I awkwardly stand in a squatting position waiting for weight to drop on me. Ouch, Jack is on first. I fly down, but it's not that tall of a room. I go back up and grab Mary, feeling kind of stupid, as if I'm playing with imaginary friends.
The room is dark, and it would be pitch black if not for a tiny red light in the corner. I electrocute it, just in case it's a camera. I highly doubt they'll be checking this room.
I decide to use my new X-Ray vision, and look outside the room.
"So there's a really big room just outside us. It looks like a lobby. There are a few people out there, but not many. There's lots of doors along the walls, except for the very back of the room, it splits into a hall on both sides. Oh.. Wait... someone's coming toward us!" I hold out a ball of electricity that eliminates the room. "What the..."
"I think this is a bathroom stall." Mary says.
"Then lock the door!" She runs over and locks it while I get rid of the orb and wait.
A few seconds later, a woman walks in and the lights turn on.
"Aww... I got blood all over my new clothes!" Her voice is followed by the sound of running water. "Gonna be the biggest mess to clean when those kids get here. I hate cleaning up blood. Yuck."
I feel something crawl by my feet and try not to scream. It's quickly gone, and I hear the lock move. It's suddenly opened and the lady looks at me.
"You look familiar.... Wait a minute, are you..." I don't know what to do, so I throw out my hands and freeze her. Mary turns herself visible again and looks at me. She nods.
"Good work, team. Now what? She's not gonna melt anytime soon, so we don't have to worry about her."
"I don't know, they might find out that she's missing, and I kinda wish I had just electrocuted her, so I could take her tag, or anything else in her."
"I could just melt it." Jack says. I'll be honest, sometimes I forget that he's here.
"Well, wait. Are we gonna talk to her, or just electrocute her? We could get info and then she could either help us more or I'll, ya know." I say. Mary thinks for a moment.
"Let's try to get something out of her."
So Jack starts to melt the ice.
