After five years...
"Liza, we're going to have a new resident coming this week. So we need to clean the room. Spray some antibac baka may amoy pa iyon o bakas ng dating residente natin na namatay sa kwartong iyon," she said strictly to her caregiver who is also a filipina. She never felt goosebumps anymore when she had a resident who died.
But before, she's really scared. At her first week of being nurse in the hospital, her patient died and she cried after that and she got sick. For almost five years of working in an adult family home she used to it. She work as a part time caregiver while studying.
It's been five years since she left the Philippines and in that five years she never contacted her friends even her closest friends. She never ask her brothers or even her parents. They knew her story but not all, she never tell them the moment that she almost lost her virginity to her stupid bestfriend. They'll freak out if they knew about it and she doesn't want it to happen.
Multi-tasking. Nakukuha pa din niyang mag-aral aside from her work.
She used to do that for five years. School, house and work is her routine for the past five years and now she's doing three jobs and she only has 4 hours to six hours of sleep. She even nag by her grandmother for not resting and not having a vacation.
Busying herself with her doctors order and medication records when she heard her phone rang. She shrugged her shoulder and look at it.
"Hey!" she answered.
"How are you?" a guy from the other line.
"Well as far as I know I'm better than yesterday. Why? What's with the call?" she smile as if he saw her smiling.
"Nah! Nothing, just wanna make sure that you didn't kill yourself," he laugh.
"You stupid jerk. Of course I won't and I'm not gonna kill my freaking life," she said horrified.
"Let's go out later," he sigh. Mukhang nahihiya itong yayain siya.
"Kuya Gian, I'm busy. Yeah it was Gian. Her brother's friend and band mate and the owner of the bar where they had gigs before.
She heard him sigh again. Nakaramdam naman siya ng habag dito. Palagi itong nagyayaya sa kanya ngunit tinatanggihan niya. Palagi siyang may dahilan. She's not that naive not to know if the guy likes her. But she never feel the same at ang magpaasa ang ayaw niyang gawin.
"I understand bunso," malungkot na sabi nito and he hang up the phone without hearing her protest.
Gian was really a nice guy to her. He became her savior once and became the best companion and now when he's asking for once tinanggihan niya.
