Into the dark I rode. My thoughts lay with only one thing. The rain poured and thunder rolled overhead. My heart raced as I rode deeper into the forest Tears fell from my eyes silently as I approached the clearing. My eyes fell upon the grave marker in the center. I dismounted the horse and approached the wooden marker. Lightning flashed and the name illuminated. I dropped to my knees in front of the grave. the dog tags I wore hit my arms. The dog tags that bore his name reminded me of my loss. The dog tags reminded me of the past we had shared. The dog tags reminded me of a once hopeful future tarnished by his absence from this world. His absence from this world which made mine a living hell. Shaking I took the dog tags from my neck. I held the dog tags one last time, thinking on everything. I laid them on his grave and got up. I closed my eyes with a new determination. I turned away from his grave, leaving the past behind me. I rode away with inly his memory in my heart.
