I stood in the moonlit clearing as a cool autumn breeze filled the area. The leaves rattled gently in the wind as a deep breath fell from my lips. The figure I had awaited stepped from the shadows of the tree line. "Are you ready?" his steady voice rang, breaking the silence. Slowly I nodded, and in that moment I knew I had to beat him. In an instant he shifter to his wolf form and pounced to attack me. Stepping to the side I evaded him. Shifting to my own wolf, I returned his attack and pinned him to the ground. "Well done, my son. You are ready to be Alpha." He said shifting back. "Thank you, Father. You have trained me well.." I replied with a small nod. His hand gently laid upon my shoulder and a smile crossed his face. I returned his smile as we walked back to the pack house. That night he announced it to the pack and I saw her. Her eyes shone like the waters of the sea, and her hair was hazelnut brown that flowed in the breeze. I knew her well, we had grown up together and she was my mate.
