The two walked out the door of their-*cough cough* Karkat's house and got into Dave's car. "So kitkat... where do you, um, wanna go?" "I don't know, y-you can choose." As you can tell, they still were flustered about that kiss. "How about we go to the park?" Said a sheepish Karkat. Dave nodded and headed off to a nearby park. As they got out, karkat slipped. Dave ran over and caught him seconds before colliding with the concrete. " you really need to be more careful! I don't want you to hurt yourself!" Demanded an overprotective Dave. Karkat felt his heart skip a beat slightly. "Karkat?! Long tiime no 2ee dude!" Oh shit, oh fuck, oh god oh god oh bitch!
Sollux ran over to Karkat and glommed him in a big hug. "Sollux?! Where the fuck have you been! I missed you!"
Dave's pov:
Who the fuck is he. Why the fuck is he hugging MY Karkat. Oh nah, I'm not just gonna stand here.
"Hi there! I'm Dave, it's seems you know kitkat huh? Well any friend of his is a friend of mine!" Dave interrupted the hug to give sollux a handshake. "Iit'2, um  niice two meet you two, (ii gue22)"  Dave grabbed Karkat and pulled him to his side latching his hand around his waist and nuzzling into his neck. "Me and kitkat here are very happy to see you...." Dave put his lips onto the nubby troll's neck and whispered "ain't that right karkles?"
Karkat let out a bright blush.
"Oh! Well ii gue22 2ee you later kk"  as the lispy troll left Karkat turned to face Dave. " what was that about?!" "He is not good enough for you! My kitkat only deserves the best- I mean you, you only deserve the best." The human let out a nervous chuckle and Karkat just stood there. "So you're saying that you just wrapped you arms around me and almost kissed me to make one of my best friends who is already in a relation ship back off?" Said a smug troll. "Or is it because you have the human emotion that is equivalent to flushed for me? The way you wrapped your arms over my waist and not shoulders give one example, am I getting this right Strider?" Karkat held a smug grin on his face and looked at the boy whose face as he could tell was in a somewhat shock.
Dave's thoughts:
Damn, I've never heard him talk like that before, it's really hot. The way his cheeks puff out when he says things are so cute.

"You've got to be kidding me karkles! I'm just being a good friend, you're the one having daydreams clouded of wrapping my arms around you, just admit it. You've got a thing for me." Dave retorted.  Karkat's face went even more darker as his cheeks puffed in anger. " fuck you strider." "Come on nubs we know that I'd be top~" 

The two sat at a bench facing the river after getting some corndogs. "It's getting dark out, and I'm starting to get cold." Karkat muttered. Dave pulled him into his lap and wrapped his arms around him. "Better?" "Yeah." " you know Karkat, you look really cute like that." "W-what? I'm not cute!" "Yes you are! Look at the way your cheeks puff up, it just makes me wanna-" there was a long silence . "Just makes you wanna what?" "Nothing, I forgot what I was gonna say." "Oh," 
"So, Dave you like anyone?"
"What!, no no no I don't like anyone." "You don't, heh , y-yeah me neither....."

[god damnit Dave you fucked up. If you want this adorably cold cutie with a booty, then you have to be a man, no not a man, a grade a choice Strider]
{why was I fooling myself, Dave doesn't like me. I mean who would ever like a fuckup like me? I'm useless. Well I guess I'll just drown out that for a moment.}

Dave made a move and faced Karkat towards him. "Hey karkles." " yeah" Dave pulled him into a hug and rubbed the trolls back to keep him warm. After a few minutes, Dave heard a small purr. Karkat had drifted off to sleep nuzzled on his chest. He gave the troll a kiss on the cheek as he picked him up and put him in the car. Dave drove to his house and put Karkat on his bed. Dirk walked through the entrance to his room. " finally home I see? Who's the cutie?" " yeah, sorry I was out so long, I guess I got caught up with that dude over there. He pointed towards the sleeping troll. "Do we need to have a talk Dave?" "What- NO! No we don't, go smooch on your boyfriend." "But Jake left.anyways.....good to see you, bro the fuck to sleep little dude." And with that, Dirk had shut the door to the younger ones room.
Dave jumped into the bed snuggling into a comfy, sleeping Karkat. "Good night karkles." The last gesture was a kiss on the forehead.

Dave's pov;
His eyes slowly opened to see a still sleepy troll nose to nose with him. He could see the small troll waking up and pretended to still be asleep.

Karkat's pov:
I woke up touching noses with Dave, oh shit. He looked so... cute. I just couldn't help myself. I gave a soft kiss to his pink lips and a smile crossed my face. Haven't had one of those in a while. If only he actually liked me as more than a- wait what even are we?! We argue a lot but yet he's always there to comfort me. I'll think on that one.

Dave's pov:
Did, did kitkat just kiss me? Wow, Maybe he does like me, I really hope so. Oh shit! He doesn't even know I'm awake, might as well get the best of this.

Dave wrapped the Troll in a big hug and started nuzzling his head into the grey one's neck. Now for the pull in.
"Karkles..." he let out in a sleep talking tone. karkat responded immediately. "Yeah Dave?"
Karkles pov:
Is he still asleep?
Dave pov:
Dave mumbled a few random things to make it look believable. "Do... you"
"Do I what Dave?" More inaudible mumbles followed."like me?" He could hear Karkat gulp and stiffen up.

Karkles pov:
Oh shit. What if he's just joking with me? What the fuck do I do! I know!
"Strider... WAKE THE FUCK UP!!!!" Karkat shook dave violently to wake him up.

Dave's pov:
I opened my eyes, glad to have my shades. "I'm up! Jesus dude, what's wrong?"
Normal pov:
Karkat: come up with something quick.
"I'm sorry Dave, I just had a really bad dream..." the troll let a sniffle or two out to liven the effect. "Oh I'm sorry, well what was it about." Dave pulled Karkat close and set him on his lap. "W-well I dreamt that I was all alone..." His feelings were now getting tangled into his words." I was alone, and everyone hated me, I wasn't even by your side. You hated me and I ended up sitting alone in a corner, crying my eyes out everyday, and pulled out a knife. And then I woke up." Karkat's eyes watered as he realized he just explained how he was feeling. And it hurt him to think about his only real friend leaving him. Dave looked the troll straight into his eyes and inched closer. "Karkat, I would never hate you, you should know that. I need you to live. You are the reason I can still smile about all the stupid things I do. Without you I'd just be some other dude wearing shades and hoping that he could have a friend to be by his side forever and not regret it in the slightest bit. I may not always show it, but I really do care about you. And I'll never leave you." Dave whispered into Karkat's ear. "Promise?" "Promise."

If only, if only just had the courage to say

"I love you."
