As Karkat and Jake woke up, the snow had cleared around the car and the warm sun giving a heat through the car's Windows.karkat opened his eyes to find Jake already driving through home." Good morning Karkat! How are you doing today mate?" Karkat mumbled and sat up." Morning Jake, fine." The Brit laughed at how the troll could barely form sentences." Today we can rest at home if you want, yesterday was really hectic." " that's, that's awesome, Jake." Karkat said, slowly nodding off to sleep. Jake gave a small smile as he reached the drive through of his house. "Do you think you can make it to the couch by yourself? Or do I need to carry you?" Lazily, Karkat wrapped both arms around jakes neck, linking fingers in the back." I guess that's a yes."
Jake trudged into the house and set the troll down on the couch, making sure to give him a small kiss on his cheek. Karkat snuggled up to jakes side and let out small purrs, a small smile crossing his face."how about we watch some tv?" Karkat just shrugged and poked at jakes's cheek. " Sure English, what do you wanna watch?" Jake gave a devilish smile and hugged onto Karkat." I choose a horror movie!" The troll shivered at those words." J-Jake, can you please pick something less, horrifyingly creepy?" " oh relax Karkat it's only a movie, besides..." Jake slowly whispered into karkat's ear, making sure to get his message through." ... you have me here, right?" Karkat shivered, giving a nod as he gripped onto jake'S arm. As the movie started karkat's eyes widened. Why you might ask? Well, this movie was a... killer clown. Karkat started to tremble as the clown appeared onto the screen."Jake... I-" " Karkat, it's going to be fine, none of this would happen in real life and you know it, and if it does. I'll be right here next to you."  If only Jake knew that some clowns, are not the best when sober. By the middle of the movie, Karkat was huddled up in jakes lap with his face buried in the boy's Chest, quietly shivering. Jake himself was quite scared, enough to scare Karkat himself as he jumped at the loud sound of a knock on the door. Jake paused the movie and gave Karkat a small kiss on his head before checking the door."I'll be right back Karkat."

As the boy opened the door, his heart clenched. "Jake! I missed you so much babe!"

Dirk chimed as he wrapped the Brit in a big hug." Oh! Dirk, did you just get in town?! I thought you were gonna be in Texas for a few more weeks!" Jake yelled, making sure Karkat could hear. " well, I was, but I just missed you so much I couldn't help it." He gave Jake a kiss on the cheek as he walked through the room. " by the way dirk... Karkat is staying here for a while."

The blonde gave a confused face to Jake, almost marked with slight jealousy." ... why is he staying here, with you, and not with Dave?"
"W-well, Dave cheated on Karkat a-and he tried to get me to keep it a secret. And I got mad and brought Karkat h-here, he was listening in the entire time, and I told him that he can stay here with me for however long he needed." Dirk was still skeptical about the situation. " and why is he not at his own house?" " o-oh, well the person dave cheated on him with was... karkat's brother..."

Dirk's eyes went wide,(still hidden by shades), as he went to look for Karkat. " where is the poor thing!"  "On the couch..."

Dirk ran to the couch and tackle hugged Karkat." WHAT THE SHIT?!"  " oh Karkat, I'm so sorry Dave did that to you!" Karkat gave small sigh." I'm fine now, Jake really helped me out..." he said as he looked toward Jake with a soft smile." Jake, you got him to smile? When I first saw him he was cursing everyone and everything out." Jake just laughed and sat next to Karkat, wrapping an arm around him." That's just the power of l- friendship."Jake frowned slightly, noticing karkat's smile weaken at the words. " aw! My Jakey found a bestie!"  Dirk joked as he leaned over to give a kiss to Jake. The Brit moved slightly, giving a small pout." Why do you want to tease Karkat like that, be considerate!" Jake demanded. Dirk shrunk back into his side of the couch as Jake tightened his grip on Karkat. " let's just continue to watch the movie, ok Karkat?"  The movie's suspenseful music rang through the room, Karkat clinging to Jake, Dirk clinging onto karkat. " j-Jake do we have to finish the movie...? I c-" " relax, remember what I told you. Here..." Jake pulled Karkat into his lap and rubbed his back. " it's ok Karkat, I'm right here mate, nothing's going to happen ok, not anymore..." he said softly, nuzzling into the troll's neck. Dirk turned a deep red, holding in his jealousy. He knew that Jake was just trying to make the little dude feel better, but, he seems so driven by his emotions." Jake, can I talk to you alone for a second?"  " s-sure..."
Karkat led him to the room upstairs and locked it. "I think I should leave..." he whispered, low enough for only Jake to hear." No!- um, I'm sorry. Please don't leave... I meant what I said. I'm not going to let anything happen to you, no matter what." Jake whispered, pulling Karkat in for a hug." Dirk looked so happy to see you... I don't wanna ruin his happiness, I know what it feels like. The pain, depression, and no matter what, y-you can't get them out of your head. They're just in that one spot in your mind that fuels all of your sadness. I-I don't want to trigger that." The troll said, tears and sniffles muffled by jakes 's shirt. " Karkat... I-I, I'm so sorry. Why didn't you tell me you felt this way?" Karkat pulled away from jakes 's hug and looked into his eyes. Jake doing the same, decoding a story of sadness, broken dreams, lost friends, and lost hope. "Please don't go...
