"You got everything? Charger, toothbrush, enough clothes?" Ashton asks like a worried mother sending her child off to college. It was cute, but he'd been doing it all morning and it started to get a bit annoying. I knew he was only covering up his anxiousness with questions, I was doing the same honestly.

"I got everything, trust me." I say with a light chuckle, slipping my hands into Ashton's back pockets, leaning my chin against his chest.

He smiles at me, his hands wrapping around my body. "This might be the longest we'll be away from each other..." He says in a hushed tone, his eyes staring deeply into mine.

"Yeah..." I reply lamely, my mind too caught up in his green orbs.

"Just know, while your away. I'll be with Maxie, and that's it." Ashton says jokingly but I can see it in his eyes that he's being serious. He's reassuring me.

"I sure hope so." I say grinning at him, my teeth sinking into my bottom lip. "I'll miss you." I add sheepishly, watching as Ashton's grin grows, his dimples becoming prominent.

"I'll miss you too baby, you know I'm always a phone call away. These next few weeks will go super fast, believe me." Ashton says, lifting a hand to my cheek, his thumb ghosting over my bottom lip. He was reassuring me once again. He was also reassuring himself.

"Yeah..." I say for the second time, Ashton doesn't reply but instead leans down to reach my lips, encasing them in a slow kiss.

Ashton's hand still firmly holds my cheek as he tilts his head to deepen the kiss, causing me to get on my tip toes just a little to reach him fully.

"I love you." He says in my lips, pecking them again. My heart warms at his words, my cheeks radiating in heat, nothing that wasn't uncommon when it came to Ashton.

"I love you too." I say leaning my head against his forehead.

I'm sure anyone else would think we were exaggerating with our goodbyes but we really weren't. I knew Ashton worried about me more than I'd like him to and I worry for him just as well. We've been through way too much stuff to be a 'normal' couple. But I think I'm okay with that that. We're us and us works.

Somewhere through one of Nathan's long speeches I kind of zoned out, not purposely though. It just that already in one day of being gone, we had already tackled three radio shows. It was getting a bit boring. Gladly though, Nathan did almost and all of the talking, I'd throw in a 'yeah' every once in a while just to state my presence.

"Ain't that right Kat?" Nathan turns to me, a smile on his face, his eyes bright. He truly loved his job.

"Y-Yeah, totally." I clear my throat, sending a grin to Nathan and the interviewer. They buy it thankfully, and the interviewer goes on with questions about the company.

"Well Kat here really shaped B&W today, within her short employment she's practically made this company, her company." Nathan says patting my knee lightly, a proud look on his face.

I blush at his compliment, pushing a loose stray behind my ear.

"What do you have to say about that, Katherine?" The interviewer asks me, the use of the name puts a bad taste in my mouth so I'm quick to correct him.

"It's Kat, actually," I say kindly, "and um, well I always love hearing the compliments of my work and well... It really drives me to become and do better." I say sincerely, both Nathan and the interviewer watching me intently.

"I'm glad, I'm sure Nathan is thankful he stumbled upon you." The interviewer says and Nathan nods, his arm coming around my shoulder to pull me into his side.

"Oh, I am."

-

"I'm stuffed." I mumble under my breath, covering my mouth as yawn escapes me.

"Me too, you like the wine?" Nathan asks me, on instinct I reach out and grab my half empty glass, nodding at him with a thankful grin.

"It's wonderful." I say, sipping some from the glass. Nathan watches me intently, the candles on the table softening the dimly lit room we sat in.

The company had reservations for us at a five star restaurant, on the first night, I was beyond shocked with the news. I'm sure our bill wasn't the smallest...

"So, how's it going? How's everything?" Nathan asks me, giving me his undivided attention.

I open my mouth to speak, but close it quickly after. Just have a normal conversation, Kat, casual.

"It's been good, nothing really exciting has happened..." I say with an uneasy smile on my face, what do you tell the boss anyways? That you have more problems then you can count? No thanks.

"How's the boyfr-" Nathan gets cut off with the ringing of my phone and I blush as I see who it is.

"Speak of the devil, hm?" Nathan chuckles, I quickly silence it and slide it back into my pocket.

"Yeah, sorry about that." I chuckle embarrassedly, Nathan only brushes it off.

"We're - he's good." I answer his previous question, "He got a new job so that's pretty... Cool I guess." I say with a false tone, I hope Ashton didn't talk about me like this. So unsure and awkward, I hope he talks about me confidently.

"That's great, I'll have to remind myself to congratulate him next time I see you guys making out in the parking lot." Nathan says with a wink and I instantly get red, a laugh escaping my mouth which makes me cover my open mouth with my hand.

"That was one time!" I giggle although inside I'm flinching at the memory.

"And the last time." Nathan says narrowing his eyes at me playfully. I nod, a smile on my lips. "Oh most definitely."

Our dinner continues out casually, but of banter and nonsense. It was nice, to have this type of relationship with my boss. It eased my anxiety about having to be fake and 'suck up' to him when he genuinely liked me, or he was just a great actor...

Nonetheless, he was great company and made this whole trip a little less awkward.
