"Oh look...they're having a sale...." Lauren pointed to the snazzy store in downtown LA while driving in the car with Caitlin.
"Well let's go...you just got your refund check and I got paid this past weekend...we need new clothes anyway..." she told her friend pulling into the swanky parking lot. "Even if sale means shit is too expensive...." she responded.
"Right? I could totally buy a book with the money I spend on one t-shirt in here...." Lauren told her friend walking toward the clearance rack. She lost herself in the clothes not looking up unless she felt the shirts falling off of her arm. She looked up feeling the weight of the shirts too much for her to handle. Because she wasn't famous or looked extra rich, wearing tattered blue jeans, low tops and a vintage UCLA shirt no one paid any attention to her until her pile of clothes fell on the floor. "Shit." she said quietly bending down to pick up the clothes. She felt a soft hand reach over to hand her the clothes. "Oh...thank you..." she looked up seeing familiar dark brown eyes- this time they were clear and completely free from the influence of alcohol.
"I thought that was you." he smiled.
"Oh...oh...yeah...hi." she said pulling the clothes away from him quickly.
"I'm sorry about that." he told her looking into her eyes.
"Oh..it's okay. We were both kind of lost that night." she told him. He laughed at her response knowing she was right.
"Well, I think I found myself so you know....if umm...well...if you want to get together again I wouldn't mind..." Bruno said nervously looking down waiting for her to reject him. She smiled at his sincerity and shyness.
"How can I say no to that, Bruno?" she asked him almost about to blush.
"Let's go to Hiko's..." he suggested.
"Oh...I love that place!" she answered in a surprised tone. "How do you know that place? I thought only students knew that place..."
"Let's just say I have my ways." he smiled at her. "And where the purple shirt..." he told her pointing to the shirt at the very bottom of her pile.
"Umm...okay." she answered.
"But...Bruno...you don't have my number....?" she asked him.
"I'll pick you up at 7...I already know where you live." he told her winking walking toward his friends. She turned around looking at Caitlin shocked.
"Oh...my...god!" she shrieked low enough that he didn't hear but loud enough for some of the employees to hear.
"He's cute." one of them said.
"Yeah...he's not that bad in bed either." she said under her breath.
