"uggghhh..." Lauren moaned reaching for her cell phone in the morning not checking to see who is was. "Hello?" she asked half awake.
"Lauren! Were you going to eventually tell us that you were going to get married? When did you two decide this? When are you going to do it? Do we get to be there....."
"Mom...stop. I just didn't get a chance to call you yet." She moved her body to sit up rubbing her eyes seeing that Bruno was gone. "We're going to fly y'all out here. Don't worry. It's not like today. We're here for two weeks and it's only the third day."
"You have eleven days to figure it out! That's hardly enough time, Lauren!" her mother exlclaimed. "And I still don't even know if you two should get married now....I mean. You're like 10 months pregnant with twins and you won't be able to celebrate your wedding the way you want to..."
"Gross! Mom! No! I mean..yes...but not from you!" she laughed.
"Lauren! I was talking about the toast. Not after the wedding." Her mother responded.
"But I obviously know exactly where your mind is..." her mom answered awkwardly.
There was a long pause before Lauren even considered answer her mother's statement. "But we don't know anything else except that we're going to do it while we're here....that's it. I think we'll figure out some of it today..." she told her mother.
"Will you please call me when you figure things out? Or can we come now? It's summer and the kids would love to come..." her mother answered.
"Mom...I don't know. It's barely 7 in the morning..." she told her mother.
"Oh...oh...I completely forgot that you're three hours behind us! I'm at lunch...." Rose told her daughter.
"Well I'm just waking up." Lauren said in a sarcastic tone.
"Are you feeling okay? How are your feet? Were they huge when you got off the plane? How is the food? Are the babies alright?" Rose started to ramble.
"Mom. I'm still trying to wake up. I'm fine. My feet are fine. I feel really fat but that's not any different from yesterday or even the day before." She told her mother. "Mom?" she asked suddenly. "Do you want us to get married?"
"Sweetie, if I were you I'd wait until you two have settled down in the new house and have a routine with the twins, but I'm not you so I can't tell you what to do. I know you're dad isn't happy about it. But you're his baby and he will never be happy with anything."
"New house?" Lauren asked.
"Oh. I mean, aren't you still unpacking in the house now?" she asked.
"I've been there since early this year mom....everything is unpacked. You were there yesterday to get the mail, weren't you?" Lauren asked suspiciously. "What is he doing?"
"Nothing." Rose said. "I have to go. Call me when you get things penciled in, okay, love bug?"
"Okay...." Lauren said hesitantly.
"I love you Lauren. Tell Bruno I said hello and can't wait to see him." Rose answered hanging up quickly.
Lauren threw herself on the bed rolling to her side trying to figure out exactly what her mother was talking about.New house? That's not right. He didn't want to move. He didn't want anything to do with getting a bigger house. He was right. We didn't need the hassle of moving into a different house. She thought out everything closing her eyes falling half asleep until hearing Bruno's voice singing something she had never heard before as he walked in the room. "Wake up, sleepy head. We have a wedding to plan today."
"I'm awake. I just don't' want to get up." She said feeling the babies moving. "But these monsters have other plans..." she said sitting up to see him sitting in the chair in shorts, a red sleeveless shirt and sunglasses. "I'm not ready to go anywhere yet..."
"We don't have a schedule, boo. Take your time...and eat breakfast..." he said sliding away from where he was showing her a plate of oatmeal, bananas and orange juice with extra pulp.
"Aww. You can be so sweet sometimes she told him moving her body to the side of the bed to stand up. "Help meeeee...." She moaned and laughed at the same time.
"Oh...right..." he stood up quickly helping her stand up leading her to the chair next to him.
"I'll be right back. You eat breakfast." He said reaching for his phone.
"Wait...." She reached for his shorts before he could get up.
"Who are you talking to? I'm just....I don't know what's going on...." She told him. "And my mom was acting weird on the phone..." she told him taking a bite of her banana.
He sat down next to her putting down his phone. "It can wait." He took a fork digging into her oatmeal.
"Hey! That's mine!" she snatched the fork from him. "Who is it?"
He picked up his phone pressing a few buttons handing it to her. "What do you think?"
"It's...." she flipped through the phone some more seeing a sparkling view and huge bathroom with room for everyone. "Why now?"
"I was going to take you to see it, but we left before I could tell you about it. And everything was so weird yesterday that telling you that I found a new house for us was kind of not a priority...." He told her.
"Like we have the house? Or you put in an offer for it or what?" she asked. "Because you're going to go to New York whe we get back and if I have to move all that by myself I am not going to be happy about it at all..." she said a bit frustrated.
"I don't know...I have to call Josh and see if they accepted the offer...." Bruno told her.
"Call!" she said pushing him a little. "I'm excited! It's beautiful! But it needs a fence around the pool...and we might have to put a little carpet in after they start walking...."
Bruno kissed Lauren's forehead standing up to call the realtor pacing as he talked. He only paced when he got nervous on the phone. Lauren continued to eat watching him walk up and down the small room listening to the realtor. "Okay...and our house? You will? That sounds okay. Yeah. So we can be in there by the 15th? I have to leave by then and I don't want to leave my wife with everything by herself..." Oh my god. He called me his wife. She thought watching him turn to her smiling a big smile. I love you. He mouthed to her before turning around continuing to talk to Josh. "And everything will be there and set up and everything? And the two empty rooms will be set up right? With the new stuff? Thank you so much. That is so great!" Bruno said excitedly hanging up the phone.
"Do we get to have the house?" Lauren asked matching his excitement.
"Yeah! We get the house baby!" he said even more excited reaching to hug her. "I would pick you up and spin you around the room if I could." He said lifting her up to twirl her around in a circle.
"Oh Brunnnoooo...noooo...not after I just ate...ewwww...." She groaned stopping the excitement. "I have to puke now..." she told him running into the bathroom.
"Laurrreeennn..." he laid his head on the door watching her stand up to brush her teeth with the new purple tooth brush his sisters had bought him.
"I need to take a shower...." She told him taking off her shirt to see what he would do.
"Let me fix the water for you.." he said. "We have an appointment with Lily, the event planner at 10..." he told her.
"Is there anything else you want to tell me before the day starts? Like we're already married and have four kids and live in a ten thousand square foot mansion and have three nannies?" she asked him reaching for a towel to wrap herself in as he bent down to fix the water for her.
"Nope. I think that's it." He told her kissing her lightly leaving the bathroom.
"I'm going to take an extra-long shower so we're late.." she told him as the door closed.
"Totally not my problem!" he answered it sitting down on the computer to look at pictures of baby nurseries he was planning on having painted and furnished before they got home.
