Bruno looked around the house late in the evening seeing wrapping paper flung around the house and ribbons and bows on the couch trying to find his wife in the pile of things. He wasn't quite sure what to expect, but this wasn't what he was thinking of. He was thinking that somehow the Christmas would be much more quiet than those that he had had in the past. Instead, she had somehow invited over friends from work and a few families from their swanky daycare to come over the next day to play with all the new toys their spoiled children would have. "Hey...what's wrong?" she asked patting the ground for him to sit down next to her.
"Nothing." he said moving his arms around her to help her tape a present.
"You're not homesick because you're not a home are you?" she asked him.
"No. I'm fine. I'm glad we're here. You were right. It would have been too hard to deal with everything. I'll go see them before the tour. And maybe take you, too. " he said finishing up the present they were working on. "What's next?" he asked her.
"That one...." she told him pointing to a big box of small noisy toys for the babies. "But be careful. Some may turn on and we don't want them to turn on..." she said watching him stand up to get the box.
"Gimmie that wrapping paper..." he said with a smile. "I got this."
"You go for it. I have to pee." she said getting up hearing Geronimo following her. "Serious?" she asked seeing him right behind her. "Okay. Fine. Just this once..." she said closing the door with the dog in the bathroom with her.
Okay. Now is my chance....He thought quietly escaping the living room to go to the bedroom. He picked up a silly Santa head band that Lauren had gotten as a secret Santa gift pulling down his pants revealing a pair of red and green boxer briefs. "This is going to be perfect..." he said to himself hearing her open the bathroom door and the jingle of the dog's collar.
"Did you really leave?" he heard her ask a bit frustrated.
"No..." he came back out of the bedroom. "I just had to change." he said with a slight laugh.
"Bruno! What are you doing?" she asked trying to be quiet so the babies wouldn't wake up.
"Have you been naughty or nice this year?" he asked her watching her bite her lip a little.
"Umm...I don't know. Santa knows though..." she answered playfully winking at him.
"Let's go ask the babies... " he said trailing off into the distance.
"What are you thinking!" she exclaimed running to grab him, instead jumping on his back to keep him from getting to their children's room.
"Oh...so you have been bad...." he said pulling her off his back turning to look at her.
She gave him a confused look taking the head band off his head placing it on hers. "No one is perfect..."
"Hey..." he said losing whatever interest he had in their game. Why did she have to be like this? It's so stupid.
"What?" she asked taking off her sweater revealing the purple bra they had bought just a few days before.
"nothing..." he answered looking away from her.
"Brunz...I was talking about me..." she tried to make him smile reaching for his chin to see his disapointment. "Why don't you show me what happens to the naughty girls.." she said with a seductive smile placing the head band back on his head.
"I think I heard Ev..." he said walking away from her.
"At least put a shirt on..." she said throwing him a t-shirt that was by her. He grabbed the shirt avoiding eye contact as she threw herself on the floor. "At least I'm trying to forgive you!"
