Bruno and Lauren drug the dogs and her suitcases to the car and drove home after Larissa and Jake gave them dirty looks on their way out. Shit. She thought as she left. This probably wasn't the best decision I ever made. She continued to rationalize the good and bad that could come from their relationship. They'll have a father. I'll have ahusband. We'll be a family. All the thoughts were going through her head as they pulled up to the house. Bruno quickly walked to her car helping her get out. "Go change." He said squeezing her hand. "You still look like you're at work wearing that...and that's not going to work for pizza..." he told her.
"Finneeee...." She groaned trudging to their bedroom putting on a t-shirt dress and leggings with converse and a denim jacket that covered her stomach. "Ready." She came out flipping her hair to put in a ponytail.
"Come on..let's go. I'm starving.." he told her taking her hand walking with her slowly. "Can they hear us yet?" he asked getting in the car.
"Not yet. They can hear my heart and my stomach, because it's close but not us." She told him.
"So, they're still baby blobs?" he asked her.
"Blobs?" she laughed. "They have fingers and toes and are starting to get hair..." she told him. "But they still have nine weeks until they would even have a chance of living."
"They're going to make it to 43 weeks, Laur." He reassured her feeling her anxiety level rise when she said the last statement.
"I know they are. I just worry still." She said moving her hand from his touching her stomach. "I worry about my babies."
"Our babies...." He said taking her hand back. "And I worry too." He said softly and sweetly.
"Bruno...the Grammys are next week. What are you going to do? You're usually all crazy about it right now." Lauren reminded him. '
"I know exactly what I'm going to do. Just be patient. It will blow your pretty little socks off." He smirked at her turning down a small sparsely lit road in a rough part of the city.
"We're not going to get shot are we?" she asked looking out the window.
"Shush, Lauren. The pizza is worth it." He told her pointing to a flickering sign that said Giovanni's Pizzeria near what looked like a small house located next to a community center and across the street from a high school. "You'll love this." He said parallel parking like a pro in front of the restaurant. "Let's go, pretty young thang." He sang to her coming to get her from the other side of the car. "Did I tell you that what you're wearing is hot?" he asked her.
"No. But it is hot. I'm burning up." She said to him. "And naked pregnant girl is not in either in New York of LA." She told him.
"Well it is at my house." He raised his eye brow at her hearing her stomach make a noise.
"The babies were not amused." She laughed watching Bruno point to a secluded built in whitewashed booth for them to sit at. He sat down next to her holding her hand as a waitress came up to the table.
"Oh, Bruno! You haven't been here in forever! Do you want your favorite or are you going to try something else?" the girl asked.
"Well, Morgan...I think we'll try something different." He said.
"What's your favorite?" Lauren asked him looking down at the menu.
"It has onions and bacon and potatoes on it. You wouldn't like it." He joked.
"Brunooo...." She laughed.
"Okay...no. You would like it..." he said pointing to the menu.
"Oh that does sound good. Can we have that?" Lauren asked speaking about a pizza covered in bell peppers, chicken, and topped with a pesto sauce.
