"I'll be back!" Bruno yelled to his friends a few feet away.
He ran after Lauren who started running like she did a year ago, completely healthy and not pregnant. He struggled to keep up with her. "Lauren!" he yelled at her as she slammed the outside door in his face. "Stop!" he exclaimed seeing things being thrown in her still packed suit case.
"I don't care what you're going to say. I'm going home. I'm going home I'm going home!" she yelled through her tears.
"Stop!" he said in the same stern voice that would usual scare her enough to stop. Instead she continued to cry throwing her things in her bag reaching for her phone. "I'm leaving." She said softly playing with her ring finger contemplating taking the ring off.
"I'm not going to stop you, Lauren. But just know you're not hearing the whole story..." he said sitting down in a chair as she went into the bathroom to get her things throwing them in the bag.
"I don't want to hear your story. I heard enough from your sister." She said reaching for the door.
"Okay." He said quietly knowing that if he went after her that it would not end well.
"Please give me a little bit of space to think, Bruno." She replied walking out the door to see a random car ready to take her to the airport.
Bruno remained in the chair letting her go. I have to let her go. He thought to himself reaching for his phone to yell at his sister. Before he could call Tahiti he began to cry out of frustration and anger toward his sister. He dialed his sister hearing the phone ring several times.
"What the hell were you thinking last night?" Tahiti yelled at him.
"No! What the hell were you thinking telling her about it? You don't even know what happened!" he yelled back.
"Bullshit. Like I didn't know what happened, Brunito. Lorelei is telling everyone." She told her brother.
"That's not fucking what happened, Tahiti! I didn't do any of that! I didn't! Who are you going to believe? My 10thgrade girlfriend who will go down on anyone with a dick or your brother who is engaged? I just don't understand." He said trying not to cry.
"I don't know who to believe. You two ran away so quickly." Tahiti said. "You were there and then you weren't! Both of you!"
"I left after she tried to kiss me, Tahiti. Jesus fucking Christ. " he yelled back. "I don't know where she went. I went to Uncle Frank's house. I had to get it out. He was there. You can ask them!"
"I...Bruno....oh my gosh..." she responded. "Are you serious?"
"I have never been so serious in my life." Bruno snapped at his sister.
"Where is she?" Tahiti asked. "She tried to call me but I wasn't near my phone and then you called. We have to fix it, Bruno."
"She left. She left. She took everything with her...." He paused looking over at the table near his cigarettes. "She left with everything but her ring..."
"I'm on my way over there. We'll fix it, Bruno." His sister said. "Don't cry. I know you're upset."
"I'm going to the airport." He said. "I can't wait for you." He said reaching for his keys. "I can't wait." He repeated several times.
"Give me ten minutes. I'll be there soon." She responded. "You can't go on your own."
"I have to. I have to fix it." He answered.
"Sit down, Brunz. I'll call her." She answered.
"Fine. Just please stop her. Please." He begged hanging up the phone placing her ring in his pocket stepping outside waiting for his sister. He smoked several cigarettes while standing outside waiting for Tahiti contemplating what he was going to do.
"Get in the car!" Tahiti yelled not stopping the car for Bruno about ten minutes later. "We gotta get you to the airport. She told me where she is."
"Where is she?" he asked wiping his eyes before putting on sunglasses. "Please tell me she doesn't leave at least until 2..." he pleaded to no one in particular.
"She leaves at 2:30...we have time, Bruno. We have time." She said listening to him ramble about her and how much he loved her through their congested drive to the airport.
"We have to get her." He said to his sister again. "We have to..."
"Lauren?" Tahiti asked as she picked up her phone.
"Will you tell him I'm sorry?" she asked Tahiti. "Tell him I'm sorry I can't keep up with him and his lifestyle. I can't do it."
"I will Lauren. I'll tell him everything. I'm sorry...." Tahiti said looking at Bruno covering the phone. "Do you want me to tell her I was wrong?"
"Tahiti? Is he with you?" Lauren asked hearing the confusion through the other end of the phone. "I don't want to talk to him."
"You don't have to." She said stopping the car for Bruno leaning her hand up to tell him to call her when he gets to her.
"Stall her." He mouthed watching his sister respond with I'm trying.
Still on the phone with Lauren Tahiti heard Lauren start to talk. "Is he coming to get me?" she asked handing someone her ticket to scan.
"I don't know." Tahiti answered trying to cover up what she knew.
"Lying doesn't run in your family does it?" Lauren asked hurrying to get to the point at the airport where only passengers could go."I have to go." She told his sister.
"Okay. Be safe." Tahiti answered hanging up the phone. "Oh fuck." She sighed parking the car near an empty part of the parking lot.
Bruno tried to look inconspicuous as he hurriedly ran toward the security check point of the airport passing by tourists and dancers and employees without being noticed. He reached for his phone trying to call her watching someone in the distance pick up their phone and turn it off. "Lauren!" he yelled at the crowd. "Lauren!" a large number of people heard his calls looking around for the girl he was looking for. "Please, Lauren." He pleaded loudly seeing her in the distance looking at him through her tears. She didn't move. She just stared at him, angry, frustrated and confused.
"I wouldn't have done all the things I have done.....ohhhh, Lauren...I know it hurtsssss.....to see the only one you wanna love in someone else's arms.....but I..." his voice cracked through the tears he tried to hold back singing the words that he had put together the night before waiting for her reaction.
