"W-Weston?" I ask in disbelief.

"Hey," he says again, eyeing Shane.

"Oh," I say. "Shane, this is Weston. Weston, this is Shane."

They nod at each other warily. I ignore that.

"What are you doing here?" I ask Weston.

"I've been searching for you for days," he replies.

"What about Samantha?" I ask.

"What about her?"

"Where is she?"

"Her house."

"She just let you leave?" I ask skeptically.

He hesitates. "After some convincing."

"Ok," I reply slowly, still not convinced.

Nobody says anything for a while. We all just stare at anything but each other. It is extremely awkward.

"Well, it was nice seeing you. We have to leave and find Ethan," I finally tell Weston. I nod at Shane to lead the way.

Shane starts walking, and I quickly start to follow him. Unfortunately, I don't make it more than six inches when Weston grabs my arm.

"I want to come with you," he says.

I rip my arm from his grip. "Why?"

"I want to help," he replies.

"Why?" I ask again.

"Does there have to be a why?" he asks. "I mean, can't a guy just do something nice for a pretty girl without being questioned?"

I shudder when he says pretty girl.

"No," I reply, "you can't."

I turn to walk away, but he grabs my arm again. He has a murderous look in his eyes.

"Don't walk away from me, Elliot," he warns through gritted teeth.

Ignoring his threat, I rip my arm out of his grip and turn once more. He grabs my arm, yet again, and spins me toward him. In a flash, he has lifted his arm up and slapped me across the face. I fall to the ground.

Where is Shane?

Weston crouches and brings his head close to my head.

"I told you not to do that, Elliot," he whispers with fake empathy.

"Coward," I say to him.

"What was that?" he spits.

"I said you're a coward," I reply.

He raises his hand to slap me again.

"No!" I yell cowering away from his oncoming hand.

I wait several seconds for the slap to come, but it doesn't. Daring a look, I see that Weston is lying on his back several yards away. He doesn't look like he's moving very much.

What happened?

Slowly, I stand up. Weston still doesn't move.

"Elliot!"

I turn to see Shane running toward me. He stops in front of me.

"Elliot, that was amazing!" he exclaims.

I raise an eyebrow. "What was amazing?"

"Whatever you just did," he replies excitedly.

"Shane, what did I do?" I ask.

"I don't know," he admits. "He was going in to hurt you and you yelled. Then, he flew back. It was like some sort of magic."

"Magic?" I ask.

"Yeah," he says. "Magic."

Do I have some sort of magic? I doubt it. Where would I have gotten it? It would make it easier to defeat Willyn if I have magic.

"Where were you when I was arguing with him?" I ask Shane.

"I was trying to come help you, but I was restrained by some sort of barrier. Until you're magic broke it," he replies.

"Who would make Weston do this?" I rhetorically ask.

"You think someone else caused this?" Shane asks.

"It had to be someone with magic," I rationalize.

"Who has magic and doesn't want you to succeed?" he asks.

I think for a moment. Who wouldn't want me to succeed? If I become queen, it would be a better life for everyone. Except for-

"Willyn," I answer. "She's the only one."
