Chapter 39

KATHRYN's POV

My phone rang. Pinunasan ko ang kamay ko bago ko sagutin ang tumawag. I didn't bother to look at the caller.

"Kathryn." a firm voice made me shivered. Its Dominic. Matagal ko na siyang hindi nakakausap. Hindi na rin ako nakapagpaalam sa kaniya.

"Hello? Dom?"

"How are you? Hindi ka nagpaalam sa'kin na magbabakasyon ka pala kasama ang asawa mo." mapait niya sabi sa'kin kaya napakurap ako.

I made my way to the veranda. I sat on the chair infront of the railings, I can feel the sound of his breath on the other line.

"I'm sorry, Dom.."

"Its okay. Sana nagpaalam ka lang naman."

I bit my lip, "I'm sorry. I forgot about you.."

I was playing with my fingers. I'm tensed. Nakalimutan ko si Dominic because I'm really pre-occupied with a lot of things.

He sighed. "Kamusta ka na diyan? Hindi ka ba niya sinasaktan?"

"Of course not!" I defensed, "Bakit niya naman ako sasaktan? Are you really that shallow, huh?"

"Okay, sorry? Akala ko sasaktan ka niya diyan."

"Dominic.."

"Is it bad to care for my bestfriend? Once na saktan ka niya, just tell me at ako mismo ang bubugbog sa hinayupak na 'yan?"

I laughed at his possesiveness. Para lang kasi siyang si Julia at Miles, but in a boy version and he added up pa that he loves me nga daw. Hindi ko naman siya masisi because if someone will hurt him also, I will do the same.

"Opo, tatay." I snorted and giggled.

"Kathryn Chandria! Humanda ka sa kiliti mo kapag nakauwi ka!" he hissed on the other line."

My eyes narrowed on the view. "What the? Subukan mo Dominic Roque!"

He laughed at me back. Medyo nabingi pa ako sa tawa niya. I rested my back on the chair.

"How are you there?"

"I'm perfectly fine! Maganda nga dito. I'm wishing na sana kasama kita dito, you will surely love it." I told him.

He chuckled on the other line. "I'm wishing for it soon, Kath. Samahan mo ako when we'll go there since ikaw pa lang nakapunta diyan."

"Of course! Ikaw? Anong ginagawa mo sa bakasyon?"

"Wala naman. I sometimes hang out with my friends, you know sila Jon."

Napangiti naman ako. "Sumama ka, Dominic."

"Sana nandito ka kasi, Kathryn." napahinga siya ng malalim pagkatapos nun.

I was stunned, for me, it was just a simple words. Like, I'm used to it because we're best of friends. But why do I feel something hid between those words? I feel something different.

"Babawi ako kapag nakauwi ako, ha?" hindi siya nagsalita sa other line, "Hoy, promise, babawi ako. I swear and I will."

"Promises are meant to be broken, Kathryn. I don't wanna ex -"

I expelled a sigh, cutting him off. "But promises are meant to be fulfillled also, Dom. Babawi ako, pangako."

Natawa naman siya bago ako inasar uli. Halos isang oras din bago kami matapos magkwentuhan. Nagpaalam na siya since may lakad sila ni Jon and I'll be cooking our lunch na. Baka kasi gustom na si Daniel pagdating niya dito.

Hay, I feel like I'm a wife. Yes, I am but experiences that you are the one taking care of your husband. Parang ang sarap sa feeling, hindi tulad ng dati. I'm hoping that when reality bites, it won't hurt. I hope so.

"Sinong kausap mo?" Daniel asked me when he sat beside me.

"Nakauwi ka na pala? Kamusta lakad niyo ni Mang Lito?"

Hindi siya sumagot, instead he gave me a cold look.

"Sinong sabi kausap mo?" umirap siya sa'kin kaya muntik na ako matawa. Gosh, he's so cute! "May pa-tawa tawa ka pa diyan. Tangina."

"Si Dominic -"

He cutted me off. "Why are you calling him?"

"He was the one who called me - "

"Ba't mo sinagot?"

"Dominic is still my best -"

Tinignan niya naman ako. "Akala ko ba sila Julia at Miles lang bestfriends mo?"

"Wait!" I raised my hand gesturing him to stop blabbering whereabouts, "Ba't mo ba kasi ako pinuputol? Are you jealous?"

He never answered me back. Daniel sighed and leaned his head on the wall. Niyakap ko naman siya sa bewang.

Pasweet naman ang isang 'to.

"Daniel, nakalimutan ko si Dominic. Hindi ako nakapagpaalam sa kaniya that's why he is curious where I am. Wala naman sigurong malisya 'yung pagiging magkaibigan namin."

He looked at me before kissing my forehead. "I'm sorry. I was just.. No, I can see that he likes you. Dominic likes you Kath."

"Alam ko na matagal na. I'm just blind about it. Kaibigan lang turing ko sa kaniya and he's aware of it."

"Paano kapag kuhain ka niya sa'kin?"

Natawa naman ako ng malakas. "Papakuha ka ba?"

"Hindi. Akin ka lang." he hugged me tightly as I burried my face on his chest.

"Paano kapag kinuha ka ni Jasmine sa'kin?"

Hindi pa rin mababago na mahal niya pa si Jasmine. Kung babalik ka sa Maynila ay si Jasmine pa rin ang girlfriend. Siya pa rin ang mahal. I'm just here to be his temporary, a substitute.

Napabuntong hininga siya. "Ang sabi ko, 'di ba tayo lang munang dalawa? Huwag mo na nating isipin 'yun."

I smiled at him. Gusto ko siyang makasama habang buhay. Pagbibigyan kaya ako ni God? Will it be possible? As day passed by, my feelings for him got deeper. I love him. I cant help to control my feelings, it will just sprout eventually.

"Im bored." I pouted at him and he pinched my cheeks.

"Then let's do something.." I shivered when he kissed my bare neck. Nakikiliti ako kaya iniwas ko ang leeg ko habang tumatawa.

"Daniel! Ang manyak mo!"

"We did it many times already, wife," I can see lust on his eyes but when I glared at him it quickly disappeared. "Ayaw mo?"

"Nakakahiya kaya!" I flushed a crimson cheeks.

"Bahala ka." Daniel looked away as if he's angry with me. Natawa naman ako sa ka-childish niya. He has this side naman pala.

I threw my inhibitions when I straddled, sitting astride on his lap. The lust came back on his eyes, the intensity to be behold.

"I love you." I stated when I kissed him, he started kissing me back.

He paused and kissed the bridge of my nose. "I..I can't say it, mahal ko. I can't say those.."

"No, its okay. I'll wait."

He smiled at me before he kissed me roughly, gripping my waist. And by that time, the next thing I knew, we are now on our bed and our clothes thrown away on the floor.
