"Math is honestly going to be the death of me" Jessa groaned as she threw away her exam, "I've accepted the obvious, I'm going to fail it"

We walked home after the last bell of the school day rang, and we made way through the busy Extracurricular Building with our books clutched to our chests.

"No, you're not" Violet sighed, "We both are"

"Math isn't that difficult guys" Alicia told them.

"Easy for you to say, you yourself told us you sit next to the class genius" Jessa said to Alicia as she crossed her arms.

"Very much true" Alicia's shoulders dropped, "Speaking of, I promised Mae I'd help her with homework"

Alicia waved us goodbye, rushing down the hallway to meet her roommate.

"Just get a tutor" I told Violet and Jessa, "The school's full of nerds who'd be willing to help"

"How about you tutor us?" Violet asked with a much too large smile, looking at me with batted eyelashes.

"Are you calling me a nerd?" I asked in playful offense.

"She is" Jessa said with a raised eyebrow, "But she had a point"

I narrowed my eyes at the two, "Even if I did want to, I can't" I explained, "Alicia practically signed me up to tutor her boyfriend"

Jessa nodded, remembering Alicia saying just the thing at the grocery store.

"You're tutoring Michael?" Violet snickered, "Good luck with that"

"Hey, for all we know Michael could actually be a genius" I argued, "With some tutoring, he would be fine"

"I'll probably get my dad to help me, or something" Violet told us, "He's good at math, I'll phone him later tonight"

"What about me?" Jessa whined, "I can't flunk another class, my mom's still furious from last year—and I am not taking summer courses again"

I made a face, remembering Mrs. Hendricks reaction to Jessa having to take summer courses in order to even attend high school. I'm just glad Canvick made an acceptation for her writing skills and now her math skills.

"I'll help you find one, Jess" Violet insisted, "Maybe my dad can help you too?" her voice slowly became more high pitch as she spoke.

"So he could pick at me about boys and school? No thanks, I'll figure something out" Jessa responded.

It was the fourth week of school, a month of being here almost gone like that.

Instead of going the same way to our place with Violet and Jessa, I went to the boys' side of the school, finding that it oddly looking the same as the girls' side.

I directed myself to the house number Michael gave me earlier today, 34C, feeling various eyes on me which I figured was because I was one of the only girls in the area.

Once I got to what was directed to be Michael's house, I softly knocked on the door hearing a rather large ruckus occur on the other side before the door was opened by someone who very much wasn't Michael.

"Umm—hello?" I said, ending in a high-pitch voice, making my greeting sound more like a question, "Is Michael here—" I was cut off by the boy calling Michael's name.

"You could come in" he said, hus accent sounding to be from a more southern part of the country, "Michael's on the couch"

He held out his arm, allowing me entrance before introducing himself, "I'm Austin, that's Jerome" Austin said, pointing to the boy who was playing video games next to Michael on the sofa.
