Chapter 60

(Steph's POV)

"Hey.." I heard somebody whisper. I groaned.

Ayoko pa bumangon..

"Steph.." I heard somebody say again. Agad naman akong gumulong sa kabilang side ng kama para iwasan yung gumigising sakin. Ayoko pa talagang bumangon

"It's too early.." I said inside my mind.

Then, I heard a chuckle.

"Sleepy head, as much as I want you to just sleep the whole day, I can't let you. Walang laman ang tiyan mo." I heard the person say.

Napakunot ang noo ko. Xavier?

I opened my eyes and faced the side where I heard the voice come from. When I finally did, bigla akong napatabon sa muhka ko ng unan.

Si Xavier nga!

God, he can't see me like this! Masyadong magulo ang itsura ko! 'Di pa nga ako nakakapagayos! Mamaya baka may mga muta pa ako sa mata tapos yung buhok ko baka parang buhok ng mangkukulam!

"You look fine, don't worry. Just sit up and eat." pagkukumbinse niya sakin as if he was able to read my mind.

"Nakakahiya.." I answered but he only let out a chuckle.

"Well, I don't really mind", he said at tsaka ako bumangon kahit nag aalangan habang hinahawi ang buhok ko gamit ang kamay ko.

I looked at the clock on the wall and found out it was already 12:42PM. Geez! Ganon ako katagal nakatulog? But then, what bothered me the most is that Xavier is still here - hindi ba may pasok siya?!

"Why are you still here? Hindi ba may pasok ka?" I asked but he only pursed his lips. My eyes diverted to the spoon and fork that were making little sharp noises as they hit the plate. Ngayon ko lang narealize na may dala dala palang pagkain si Xavier. Para ba sakin 'toh?

"Couldn't really leave you here. Not when I know you're sick." he simply told me while not making eye contact.

I gulped as I felt in awe. 

Does that mean he stayed because he wanted to take care of me? Dahil ba nagaalala siya? Ibig din ba sabihin no'n, ayos na kaming dalawa?

Our eyes met and tsaka ko lang narealize na kanina pa pala ako titig na titig sa kanya. It was awkward but we both let it pass. Maya maya pa ay ihinarap niya sakin ang isang kutsarang puno ng kanin na muhkang may halong sabaw.

"A-ano 'toh?" I asked. Is he really going to feed me? 'Di naman kailangan, kaya ko naman subuan ang sarili ko.

"But then you like it.." my inner conscience argued. Gosh, shut up.

"Just eat up alright? It's sinigang. I asked manang to cook lunch for us since I didn't want to buy something from a restaurant. I'd cook it myself if only I knew how but then I don't. Mas maganda ang lutong bahay kapag may linalagnat." he answered seriously while waiting for me to accept the spoonful he was offering.

I felt speechless. 'Di ko alam ang ssabihin at 'di ko rin alam kung paano mag r-react. Hinayaan ko nalang siyang subuan ako hanggang sa maubos ko ang nakahandang lunch para sakin. He, then, gave me medicine to drink at hinayaan muna ako sa kwarto habang hinatid niya sa baba ang pinagkainan ko.

I bit the bottom of my lip while smiling. I could feel a tiny whirl in my stomach and the warmth in my chest. 

Who would've thought that Xavier has a caring side to him? This is really unexpected. Parang gumanda tuloy ang pakiramdam ko at siya ang nag aalaga sakin. So this is what it feels like to have him care?
