Extract from one of my stories that have yet to be published

On the night of my seventeenth birthday, I found myself washed up on a beach, unaware of how and why I was there. Dazed and slightly concerned, I ventured across the length of the peculiar beach with a sense of déjà vu; the white sand, soft on my bare feet, and still warm from the days heat.

Every now and again I would stand on a piece of debris (probably just a shell) and I would curse quietly. The sound of the waves lapping against rocks in the lagoon and the tree leaves rustling from the slight wind is all the noise that penetrated the night.

After walking up and down the tranquil beach for about twenty minutes, the cool of the night began to push in on me. I wore only a ripped pair of black skinny jeans with a tattered black vest, which may I add, was soaked from my unexpected swim in the sea.

A large gust of wind sent my wet, abnormally white hair slapping against my cheeks, leaving a slight stinging sensation in its path. Shivering and lost, I spun in circles, looking for any sign of life, for something... Anything.

With each passing minute, my hope was being sapped away from me like the nectar from a flower. I looked to the sky as I fell to the ground and two stars caught my eye, both parallel from each other, but the second star to the right seemed to pulsate with light. Something about the scene sent a shiver down my spine.

I was so enraptured by the star, that I hadn't realized it getting bigger; it seemed to be getting closer, brighter and it was now about the size of a fist. However, it diverted from its path and was now jittering about in the sky leaving a small stream of sparkles behind it.

At top speed, it again changed course and started straight for me, I of course was far too enraptured by the puzzling light that I forgot to move, and to my utter surprise the orb of light hit into me. A muffled groan could be heard, only it wasn't from me...

I looked down into my lap to witness a tiny male pixie recover from the collision, standing, he began to wipe some granules of sand from his grey coloured jeans and shirt. After tidying himself up, he looked up with a mighty frown on his face and an intense crimson-brown glare.

His fair skin was painted a timid blue by the moon and navy sky, whilst his strawberry sauce and ice cream drizzled hair was a collection of ombre ruffles. He sported a pair of beautiful crystalline wings that had a certain glow to them, I gawked at the small creature in awe but that angered him, and he kicked out with his right leg.

With furrowed brows, I picked the miniature boy up by one of his hands and held him in front of my face. He struggled for a moment or two before pulling himself up and biting into my thumb; instinctively, I released him but to my utter surprise, he was being engulfed by a flash of white light.

I gasped as the blinding light stole my vision, now only able to see blurred images with white patterns. I felt the ground with my hands, sinking into the sand before finally feeling something solid and I pulled myself to my feet. I could faintly see the image of a man in front of me, so I backed off and blinked away the white orbs, freeing my vision of burden.

As everything came back into focus, I came to see the same pixie, only a lot bigger... He was about two or three inches bigger than me, that doesn't make him big, just bigger than me. In amazement I circled him as if I was a wolf and he was my pray, his wings had completely disappeared.

"Can you just stop already!" He growled.

"Stop what?"

"Stop that..." He said a pang of confusion entering his tone.

"What? This?" I said as I jabbed my index finger into his side.

He jerked away from me, his expression half way between a laugh and annoyance, I couldn't help but laugh. He kissed his teeth before wrapping his slender fingers around my wrist and pulling me to the jungle that lingered at the edge of the beach. I didn't resist... Much...

I attempted to get free from his strong hold, but he didn't budge, so I thought I'd give him a taste of his own medicine and I sunk my teeth into his bicep. With a snarl, he spun on his heals and put his palm out straight in front of him before blowing the glittery substance I had noticed earlier in my face.

I sneeze almost instantly, and then my vision started to darken at the corners; I felt as light as a feather, as though I could drift away into the sky and fly like a bird. Everything became hazy and I began to sway with the wind, I was muttering under my breath as the apparition of the pixie began to blacken.

A distant voice said, "Our last hope? We're practically dead already."

"W-what? H-hope... Believe." Is all I managed before everything dissipated into the night.
