She was skillful as she weaved in between the tall, white barked trees that sported blood orange leaves. She was larger than any normal wolf, smarter and in control, she owned this territory and someone else had entered it. To her, this was an insult and she was ready to fight for what was rightfully hers.

The closer she got to the scent the more worried she became, yelps and growls ricochetted off of each tree, to her benefit it sounded like there were just a few intruders. She picked up the pace, increasing her speed with each meter that she crossed, there was no going back now.

As she pushed off with her strong hind legs, she leaped over a large bush, knocking the most dominant of the two wolves to the ground. She allowed a low growl of her own to rumble up her throat as she circled the vicious wolf that was suffering from hurt pride, his bright red eyes were wide with rage as he charged forward to confront the newest member of the scuffle.

The pastel grey wolf that lay on the crimson stained snow, observed the snow white female and the onyx male hammer it out, quietly with one half-lidded eye. He whimpered slightly as he tried to stand. It was no use, he flopped back to the floor and let out a long, wheezy, nasal sigh.

The female managed to get a grip on the dark males jugular, holding tightly as he struggled to get her off. He let out a mixture of growls and muffled yelps as she shook her head a little before he contorted his body around and bit at her muzzle.

Now bloody and angered, she charged forward and knocked into his side with her shoulder, he stumbled and hesitated. He was trying to make the decision to leave or to stay and fight, he bared his teeth and snarled; it was decided, he would stay.

That was all it took to push the female over the edge, with a flash of bloodstained teeth and white fur she disappeared into the brush, her growl bouncing in every direction. Confused and unable to see, the black wolf took a step back. A wailing cry pierced the crisp air, causing all of the birds to fly to the sky; she had clamped her jaws down on one of his ankles.

He turned and bit the scruff of her neck, desperate for her to release him, he could feel the bone beginning to snap under the pressure. She again released him, but it was her decision. She slinked in front of him and began to push him further and further back, into the shadows of the trees, daring him to come close. He turned on his paws and sprinted away as fast he could with a slight limp.

Blood stained the she wolfs pallid fur, smeared around her mouth and along her neck. She made sure he had left before she turned to face the broken wolf that was now standing on his large clumsy paws, swaying along with the slight wind.

One of his eyes were swollen shut but through his other, abnormally red eye, he watched her as if his life depended on it... But maybe it did. The pair of wolves were ghost like, with their light fur and the shimmer of the moon highlighting them in the snow.

Her golden eyes watched back as he began to crumble under his own weight, he started falling, but in an instant she was next to him, supporting him. She guided him back through the forest, acting as his pillar of strength all the way until they eventually reached a small cabin with smoke whirling from the chimney and coalescing with the deep indigo clouds.

A small whirlwind of snow brushed past them, and as it passed the she wolf had disappeared and was now replaced by a naked girl, dragging the now unconscious wolf into the small wooden cabin. A yellow, flickering light washed over the surface of the snow as the door swung open and their shadows danced in movement of the light, as the door closed, the light dispersed into the night. A cackle from a fox sounded in the distance, communicating with its pups or mate, the last sound the came before the depraved howl that rattled even the hibernating species.
