Being a trainee at Pledis was never the easiest. That was surely a given. When you sent in your audition video of you dancing and singing to Pledis, the last thing you'd expected was to get a response. They actually offered for you to come and train to be an idol.
Each day was filled with early rises, short breaks, and long hours spent doing both vocal and dancing lessons until you throat was sore snd your muscles ached to the bone.
You knew it was worth it though. You enjoyed every minute the workers pushed you to work hard. Wanting to succeed is something you'd always strived to do. And the term giving up was not in your vocabulary.
The people you were able to share these years training with was a plus to you. Trainees who still didn't know what groups they'd debut in, or if they'd even debut at all. It didn't matter though. You were all here now and you were supporting one another.
These were the thoughts your best trainee friend Seungcheol put into your head at your lowest moments. Whenever you'd be on the edge of breaking or not wanting to move on, he'd just remind you of all the great opportunities there were in the world and the people you got to share them with.
And those words never failed to get you back on your feet.
You felt relieved knowing that it was time to be released to go eat lunch. The one time of the day where you were able to sit amongst your friends and socialize rather than watch each other dance and sing all day.
Sitting down in the studio floor with your food sprawled in front of you, you nearly knock your water bottle over when you feel two hands close over your eyes, blocking your vision of the world. "Guess who." A deep voice spoke from behind you. The owner of the voice was unmistakable, for you'd heard him speak, rap, and sing around the clock.
"Let me guess." You waver for a moment to tease the boy behind you. "Seungcheol oppa?"
He chuckles rather loudly, falling on to his butt in the space next to you with his lunch as well. "Nope! It's Scoups!"
You stare at Seungcheol like he's grown a second head. A name you'd never once heard coming from his mouth made you scrunch your eyebrows in confusion. "What kind of name is Scoups!"
"It's the new stagename Pledis told me I'd be using!" He yells in excitement, realization hitting you soon after. Your Seungcheol was going to debut, and so were you. Both of you must have discovered the great news the same day.
"Well in that case I love it!" You scream, tackling Scoups into a loving hug. Holding him like it'd be the last time you would see each other.
"I can't believe we're both going to debut." He stares in shock, pulling away but keeping your head in his shaky hands. His expression turned rather sad as he spoke, matching the frown written on your own face.
"Am I going to see you anymore?" You say just above a whisper, not necessarily knowing how to comprehend this newfound news. Finally debuting meant years of continuous hard work, endless nights, plenty of live performances. And worst of all, loss of contact from loved ones.
"I- I don't know (Y/N)." Seungcheol admitted to himself. He could see your eyes well up, seeing that you understood this might be the last time you see each other. "Yah, don't cry. Look at me."
Seungcheol forced your head in his direction, thumbs wiping your eyes to rjd of years before they had the chance to spill over your rosy cheeks. "This is the last day we're going to see each other."
"Don't say that because it's not true." Seungcheol said through gritted teeth is such an angry tone it almost frightened you. "I will not let this separate us. I will not."
Seungcheol continuously looked back and forth in each of yours eyes. He scanned your fave looking for any sign of doubt. And when he found it, he immediately washed it away with an immense kiss to your lonely lips.
He pulled you into him, bodies meshed together in longing and love, not caring anout the stares from around the studio. You kept up with his quick moves. Hands wrapped the length of his neck whilst his hands gripped firmly on to your waist. He squeezed lightly, wanting to remember the feeling and taste of you and him together before it wad gone.
"Seung-"
"We are going to debut." He continued to hold your waist to his firmly. "And I am going to find you and hold you again. There's no question to it. I promise you." He pressed a final kiss to your swollen lips before proceeding out of the studio to his final set of training.
And just as Seungcheol said, even after debut, he kept his promise.
