Cara
“You, girl, need to toughen up,” Mel advised. “Go right up to him and kiss him senseless.”
I blushed at the thought.
“Why are you guys always talking in secrecy now a days?” Jonah asked, looking peeved.
“You want to know about girl troubles, Jonah?” Mel asked, raising her eyebrows. Jonah grimaced and shrunk back. I think Mel and Jonah would be perfect together.
Mel turned back to me. “Look, this past week, 3 out 5 days, he drove you to school.”
“That’s because Jed was too busy being a stalker,” I explained.
“But why didn’t any of his other friends drive you?”
“Because Jed knows they’re dirty little man whores, who can’t control their mouths.”
Mel shook her head. “Not my point. Look Cara, if you want him and think you can get him, there’s only one way to get him.”
“And what way is that?” I asked.
“You need to make him jealous,” she said with a conniving smile on her face.
“How is he supposed to even care?”
“Car, if he really is your mate like you think he is, he’s going to feel at least an ounce of protectiveness against you and will feel jealous if someone’s with you.”
“He said he was happy for me when I told him about my mate,” I said.
Mel rolled her eyes. “It was to mask his pain.”
I didn’t believe her, even though I wanted to. Wouldn’t it be a good thought to know your mate wants you?
“So you in?”
I thought about it. It’s true that Jed and I are twins so why am I not fighting for my mate like he is with his? At least if I fail in the end, I’ll know that I gave a fight for him and didn’t just sit out and give up.
“Fine, count me in,” I said. “But who can I use?”
Simultaneously, we looked at Jonah.
“Why are you guys looking at me like that?”
*
“Stop!” I shrieked.
“Almost done,” Mel said, but I didn’t believe her. She said that the last few times.
“So help me, just stop!” I pleaded.
“Alright, I’m done,” Mel exhaled. “Jeez, it was like a jungle up there!” She was referring to my eyebrows, which I hadn’t ever really bothered in taking care of since forever ago.
Mel handed me a mirror and I wanted to cry out in horror. My skin felt as raw as it looked. I’m surprised a chunk of skin wasn’t yanked out during the process of waxing.
Mel had waxed and plucked my eyebrows to a nice thin shape, not too thin though.
“I don’t understand why I have to do this,” I said. “Now, I look weird.”
I wiggled my eyebrows around.
Mel smeared some aloe on the red spot. “If you’re going to make him jealous, you’re going to have to look good.”
“I’m glad I’m not a girl,” Jonah voiced.
He sat on Mel’s bed using her pink laptop.
Mel threw the strips of cloth with my eyebrow hair stuck on it at him, which resulted in him screaming like a girl.
“So you get what’s happening here, Jo?” Mel asked.
“Yeah, we’re going to make Cara’s mate jealous by making him think we’re together.”
For Jonah to be in the plan, we had to discuss the fact that I had a mate and all that. We knew he knew all about mates, but it was weird to talk about boys with the guy.
“So tomorrow at school we’re doing this,” Mel explained.
“Yes, I know, we’d been planning this for the past few hours,” Jonah said, rolling his eyes.
Mel narrowed her eyes and launched at him, tackling him down and shoving pillows into his face. I laughed at the sight.
Mel constantly said that her mate was some hunky foreigner, I think she’s just kidding herself and trying to hide the fact that she, deep down, knows that her mate is Jonah. I mean I can just tell by that gentle look on her face when she’s with him. I know her bashing on him is to just cover her true feelings. And by looking at Jonah, I know what he feels isn’t too far off from her feelings.
I wish I had that. But maybe I will if this plan works out.
Suddenly, my phone beeped, signaling a text.
‘I know ur after duke. I saw u with him a lot, but guess what? He’s mine bitch!’
What the hell?
ooohhhh!!! who is it?
