Hey guys! Here's the surprise POV! Yay! Yes, it is Duke and you guys will see why once you read it :) Enjoy!

Duke

It was Friday night. Cara and I decided that we would hang out today.

I couldn’t even describe how I felt when she took the initiative to call me and suggest the day. There was no question in my mind that Cara was that girl. And by ‘that girl’ I mean my mate, the person I’m supposed to spend forever with.

When I didn’t react to seeing Cara and Jonah it was because deep down, I knew one day she’d realize she belonged to me and be with me. However, it was very hard to not smash his face in and beat him senseless for even going close to kissing my mate. Luckily, Mel’s scream had broken them apart, if not, I really would’ve snapped and shifted right there and then.

I felt more than relieved when Jonah was Mel’s mate. It meant that Jonah and Cara couldn’t continue with the relationship.

For the millionth time, I glanced at the clock that sat on the wall of the café. We had decided we would meet up here before hitting the movies. Currently, Cara was 10 minutes late so I wasn’t worried much yet. Even so, she didn’t seem like the type that would be late.

I slowly sipped the chai latte that I ordered. It was ironic that I even was drinking it. I hated the stuff. I tried it once and despised it and couldn’t even make myself drink it even if I was deadly thirsty. However, I found out that it was Cara’s favorite drink to order at cafes and that was the reason I even ordered it.

I craned my neck to look out the front door to see if Cara was rushing in, but was disappointed to see she wasn’t. I let out a long sigh and took another sip.

“Can I offer you any pastry to have?”

I looked up to see a girl that had absolutely nothing compared to Cara. Her makeup was thick and her clothes left little to the imagination even she was wearing the café uniform just like everyone else.

I shook my head. “Waiting for my date.”

When she heard that, she pouted, nodding and leaving.

I blew through my teeth, making a whistling noise.

By the time an hour has almost passed, I was growing worried. Cara doesn’t seem the type to be this late. Nor does she seem like the type to just ditch without word.

I pulled out my phone and dialed her number. After a few rings, it went to voicemail. I tried a couple more times but they all went to voicemail. Wondering what happened, I decided to call Jed.

He answered almost instantly.

“Dude, I’m supposed to be going out with your sister. Is she there?”

There was bustling and rustling on the other side and something that sounded a lot like sobbing.

“Duke, you might want to come over here,” he said, his voice off. “My sister is missing.”

“What do you mean?” I asked slowly.

“She’s been kidnapped.”

And just like that, time seemed to have stopped. I threw a random amount of cash on the table and bolted. Once I got outside, I shifted, not able to control myself and ran towards Jed’s house. The whole time, I was praying that my mate was ok.

It’s been almost a week since Cara went missing. Each day, I felt more and more pained. It was as if she was slowly drifting farther and farther away and my wolf wasn’t liking it. I couldn’t sleep and I had to forcefully eat just so I have strength to try and find her.

Apparently, the kidnapper left a note. Something about how Cara has something that belongs to them and she had to be gotten rid of. The thought brought chills to my bones. Nothing can happen Cara. If something did, I wouldn’t be able to live any longer.

“Duke, you might want to take a seat,” Jed advised once he saw me pacing the room randomly.

“You should’ve called me as soon as possible!” I said, throwing my hands in the air.

“I couldn’t think,” Jed said. “I had problems with my mate and now my sister is gone, I was numb.”

I ran my fingers through my hair worriedly. “She has to be okay.”

“You would know,” Jed said. “You’re her mate after all.”

I didn’t even try to deny the fact that she was. I didn’t admit it to anyone fearing Jed wouldn’t accept, but at a moment like this, I’m pretty sure everyone knew.

I had been nothing but worried for Cara and that would only mean she’s my mate.

“I will slaughter this person!” I hissed.

Jed nodded in agreement. “At least let me have a punch or two.”

“What are we supposed to do?” I asked, sounding desperate. “We’ve been searching all week.”

Jed looked at me nervously. “I have a feeling I know who took her.”

“Who?” I demanded.

“I don’t know specifically the person but I think rogues took her.”

My blood went cold. Rogues have been known to be brutal and cruel to the kidnapped. They’ve been known to rape the person and torture them for either various or no reasons.

The image of those dirty bastards forcing my mate made me feel beyond murderous. I tried to calmly breath but found it extremely hard.

“Calm down, man.”

“How am I supposed to keep calm when Cara could have been kidnapped from rogues!” I yelled hysterically.

“Keep calm for her. You need to have clear thoughts.”

“We have to find her now!”

Jed nodded. “Alright, but think before you do anything. Your actions may just harm her even more.”

I nodded, almost bolting out the door in search of Cara. Now that I had the thought of rogues holding her captive in my head, I have to get her back soon before they hurt her.

“Where do we start?” I asked.

“We should call the pack for help as well. Rogues are spontaneous. We don’t know what they are capable of.”

I agreed with him and waited as he called for the other pack members.

I was growing wary with worry. All I wanted to do was to rush and do things recklessly but I know they won’t help matters, and probably worsen them if possible.

“They’ll be here soon,” Jed said. “Just breathe. For Cara.”

I took in a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying to picture Cara’s face, hoping that it would calm me. Instead, it made me worry even more. I could barely picture her face and my chest was throbbing with pain, signaling something very wrong. I clutched my chest and looked at Jed worriedly. He nodded at me and gave me the signal to go. Without hesitation, I let my instincts carry me along, hoping it would sooner lead me to Cara. I needed to know she was safe. I needed to see her and confess to her before it was too late.

Wait for me.

Hey, so I realize the time jumps around a lot but that's only because the story doesn't mainly focus on Duke.... I just thought rather than having Cara explain the long details of what happened or whatever, I'd give you a bit of insight on Duke :) Plus, this way, you guys will wonder who took Cara! Next chapter will be either Cara or Leah (if I really feel up to it) So any thoughts?
