"Jules?" He called out, approaching the beautiful girl standing alone in the Starbucks. The smell of the place was different from that of his coffee shop, it was more stale.
She turned, smiling slightly, and glanced at her cup. "Nope, apparently I'm Julian."
He rushed to her, but halted a few feet away. He wanted to hug her, to kiss her again . . . But knew he never would.
"You wanted a proper goodbye . . . And I want to say I'm sorry." He said, leading her to an empty table (Not many people attended Starbucks at ten thirty at night) Once they were more comfortably seated, he spoke again. "God, Jules, there is so much I wish I could explain, so much I wish you'd believe."
She sighed. "Noah . . . I came to say goodbye, not to search for an explanation."
"I never cheated on you. But you are right, I don't . . . " A lump had formed in his throat, and his voice cracked as he spoke, "I don't have feelings for you anymore."
"I don't want excuses." She stated firmly.
"Do you know that girl? The one you spoke to? The one who convinced you to come here?"
"Yeah, sweet little thing . . . Her eyes were so innocent, you know? It sorta amazed me. And you know me, I'm hard to impress." She smiled distantly, "Why?"
"Even if I explained, you'd never believe me. But her name is Gemma."
She stared at me for a moment, before she seemed to relax. She had put it all together, he could see it in her eyes. "She was the one who caught your eye, huh?"
He looked to the floor, but didn't reply.
"Goodbye, Noah." She said softly, and pecked him on the cheek. He embraced her, pulling her as close as he could before he'd have to let her go.
He spoke into her hair, whispering with such love, "Goodbye, Juliana."
