Gemma put her poor, exhausted, jet-lagged friend to sleep soon after her arrival. Despite Gemma's protest, Bea insisted she sleep on the couch.

As she was unloading her travel-weary friend's belongings into one of her empty drawers she heard a knock on the door.

It was the man she had mistaken for Bea. He stood, his eyes calm and tone even as he introduced himself. "I'm Jason."

He extended his hand for her to shake, his grip firm.

"I'm G-Gemma," she stuttered, reddening under his solemn green gaze. Despite a certain cold hint to his eyes, he was otherwise friendly.

"I figured I should introduce myself, being your new neighbor and all."

"Oh! Nice to meet you!" Her eyes wandered down his tan face, to his defined cheekbones and stubbly chin. His eyes were a faded green, as if the color had been run through the wash. They were beautiful. "You moved into apartment 413?"

He nodded with a smile. "Right down the hall."

"Ooh, unlucky number," she teased, and his smile broadened.

"Is four hundred and thirteen an unlucky number?"

She laughed, and then shook her head. "No, but thirteen is."

"Well then, it's a good thing I have my lucky charms cereal."

She giggled, as she was easily amused, and cheerily waved goodbye to the man. "See you around!"

"Looking forward to it."
