They finished the I Spy book after around half an hour of solve and searching.
"Did it help?"
He laughed, "Oddly, yes."
She smiled a smile to match his, yet hers was significantly more bright and energetic. "That was my plan."
They sat sipping their coffees for a bit more, before he spoke. "How do you do it?"
"Hmm?"
"How did you know it'd help?"
She looked to the table, still smiling as if she had a secret. In a way, she did. "Because I know you." She whispered softly, and he leaned forward to meet her eyes.
"And what makes you so sure?"
"You tell me, Noah Hanson. Do I know you?"
Sure, she may not have known his favorite food, or his favorite movie, or his favorite time of day, but she knew how he thought, which was all she needed to prove she knew him. So he nodded.
She leaned in further and whispered, "You see, that, right there, is what makes me so sure."
And as he gazed upon her; her bright eyes, her knowing smile, and her rosy cheeks, he realized something.
He was beginning to understand her fear of falling.
