A.N.- I am sooooo sorry guys! I left out the beginning of last chapter. That's why it started out weird =p
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I sat at home on the couch with mom. We were watching TV and smoking together. Sometimes we could get along. Not a lot, but sometimes.

There was a text on my phone from Pez asking him to come to his house. I sighed and got up. “I’m going to hang with Pez,” I said to mom. She nodded, not paying attention to me. I left the house and walked to Ali’s.

I knocked on the door and Pez let me in. “What do you need?” I asked. He sighed. “Ben, please. You have to help her. She’s been crying,” he whispered.

I ran a hand through my hair and sighed. “Sorry Pez. You know I just can’t do it. I don’t have the money and, quite frankly, I don’t have the dedication. I’d cheat on her. I’d hurt her. And I’d leave her. You know I would.”

“So change. Please Ben. For me. For Ali,” he begged.

I could tell we were home alone right now. “Pez, I can’t,” I said plainly. “I can’t leave Jeydyn. She’ll get…” I gulped. I couldn’t bring myself to say the word “raped”.

I suddenly felt angry. I felt furious at my coward of a father for leaving me. I did all this shit just to help me numb the pain of losing my hero. I would have never slept with Ali. Jeydyn would have a good life. Hell, maybe I would have a good life. Maybe not a perfect one. But a good one.

“Ben-” “I said no!” I snapped. He suddenly looked angrier than I felt. “I tried to do it the nice way Ben,” he growled before jumping on me. We crashed to the floor together and he began to beat me.

I heard someone scream before I blacked out.

***Ali’s POV***

Mom, dad, and I walked towards the house smiling with each other. We had gone out to eat. Pez said he had something to do.

We opened the front door and I screamed.

Pez was violently beating Ben. He was punching him and slamming his head against the floor, screaming and cursing at him. Ben’s eyes were closed and he was clearly unconscious.

“Pez stop!” mom screamed in terror. Dad rushed over and forced Pez off of Ben. I ran over and knelt next to him. “Ben?” I whimpered. His head was bleeding.

“We need to get him to the hospital,” mom whispered. Dad was screaming at Pez. “Go to your room right now! I will deal with you when I get home!” he roared. Pez glared before storming off upstairs.

Dad hurried over and inspected Ben. “Hospital,” he confirmed. He carefully picked Ben up. We went out to the car and I sat in the back and placed Ben’s head in my lap. Dad rushed us off to the hospital as I fought back tears.

I didn’t completely understand, but I knew Ben had his reasons for everything. Dekka and Jersey once told me that.

“He’s a cruel person but he has his reasons. His life is terrible.”

Ben was the kind of person who was cruel to the world. Cruelty was all he knew. He had been treated horribly and brutally. He just acted the way he knew. Violently. Untrustingly. Hatefully.

We pulled into the parking lot and dad picked Ben up before hurrying inside the hospital with him. Mom and I walked in together. We sat in the waiting room for a while before the doctor came out and looked at us. “He’ll be alright. He’s conscious now if you wish to go see him. We’ve contacted his mother to come.”

We went into Ben’s hospital room.

He avoided our eyes as we walked in. There was a bandage wrapped around his head. “Ben, how are you?” I asked quietly. He silently gazed at his hands.

“Benjamin, we are so sorry this happened to you. We’ll pay your hospital bill!” mom promised. He shrugged. “I deserved it. I pissed him off.” Mom shook her head violently.

Ben’s mom walked into the room. “Ben!” she said, shaking her head. “Are you Ben’s mother?” mom asked. She nodded. “I am so sorry my son did this to him. We will pay for the hospital bill,” mom said desperately.

Mrs. Jarvis glanced at Ben and sighed. “Thanks,” she said at last. “What exactly happened?” Mom sighed. “My son beat Benjamin.” Ben was still staring at his hands. “I pissed him off,” he said at last. “He was right to hit me.”

“No he was not!” mom cried. Dad was silent. “Well, what the hell is wrong with you?” his mom asked. “Minor concussion, a gash in my head, and bruises. Nothing bad,” he said with a shrug.

“He didn’t grab your arm?” dad asked in confusion. Ben shook his head. “No. Why?” Dad stared at his arm. We all did. He had violent bruises in the shape of someone’s hand.

The shape of his mom’s hand.

I watched panic flash in and out of his eyes. “He might’ve grabbed my arm. I don’t really remember.” My parents were watching him, but I had my eyes on his mom. She gave him a hate filled look before pretending to look like she somewhat cared about him.

I sighed. “I’m going to the bathroom,” I announced and walked out of the hospital room. I nearly ran into a man. “Sorry!” he said with a frown. “Is Benjamin Jarvis in there?” I nodded. “Yes, he is,” I said.

He ran a hand through his hair. “Is he alright?” I nodded. “Yea. He’s just got a minor concussion, a gash in his head, and a few bruises.” The man nervously bit his lip. He looked like he really wanted to say something.

“You can go in and see him,” I offered. He shook his head and smiled softly. “I can’t do that.” “Why not?” I asked in confusion. “He’s tired. He needs to rest. I’m just his friend’s father. I was just checking to make sure he was alright. Thank you young lady.”

He walked away and I stared after him in confusion. Well that was odd. I shrugged it off and walked to the hospital bathroom. I went into a stall and dropped my head in my hands. This was just what Pez had done to him! I couldn’t bare to imagine what his mother was going to do to him when she found out. A tear slid slowly down my face.

Ben was in danger.
