Ch 14
"Caleb, I think we might be lost," I whisper, a hint of fear in my voice.
"Lottie, queen of the woods, lost? Not possible," He jokes.
"I'm serious, it's not funny," I say.
"We'll be fine...I think I remember how to get back," he assures me. We are standing on the edge of an overhang. About 15 feet down there's a gravelly valley. It would be a nasty fall.
" Are you sure," I ask.
"Don't worry. You'll get home. I promise," he whispers.
I look up into his eyes, and for a second they're all I see. He starts to lean down towards me, and I stand on my tippy toes.
It all happened so fast. I hear a loud crack, and in moments I'm falling. I vaguely hear a scream. And I think I hear Caleb calling my name. Then the world went dark.
