"Are you ready?"
"If I say no, will it matter?"
Josh, Tiff, Caleb, and I are all in the car. We are at school, but I don't want to get out of the car.
"It's ok Lottie, you'll be fine," Tiff assures me.
"I'll be with you all day," Caleb says.
"Fine I'll get out. But only cause I want to," I sass.
Tiff and Josh get out first. Then Caleb gets out and comes around to my side of the car. He opens the door, and reaches his hand out. I reluctantly grab it, and let him help me out of the car.
We walk towards the courtyard. I glance at my phone- school doesn't start for 20 minutes.
Caleb has his arm casually slung over my shoulder, and I lean into him.
"Maybe no one will notice we're here," I doubtfully say.
"Well no ones seen us yet. Maybe," he replies.
And then one head turns. And then another. Until every single eye is on us. The courtyard gets so quiet you could hear a pen drop.
Caleb and I go sit down on an empty bench, and I just lean my head on his shoulder.
"Hey Caleb," I whisper.
"What."
"I think they noticed." He chuckles, and looks down into my eyes.
Slowly, everyone starts talking again. I hear a lot of snickers- it sucks when you know people are talking about you. I go to a fairly small school, so everyone knows each other and they all know how much Caleb and I hated each other.
"Lets at least give them something to talk about," Caleb says. Then he leans down and kisses me.
