My eyes shoot open. The sun is rising, and the sky is so beautiful. It's snowed overnight. I barely get a chance to appreciate the beauty before I notice that Caleb is gone. Where is he? I look around, but he's gone.
"Caleb! Caleb!" I yell. I hear a commotion at the bottom of the tree. I look down, and see the cougar, on top of Caleb. He's kicking and scratching, trying desperately to hold the cougar up where it can't reach his neck.
"Lottie...stay...up...there." Caleb grunts. I
Like I'd listen to him. Adrenaline takes over, and before I know it I'm flying out of the tree, plummeting down towards the cougar. I land with precision, knocking it off if Caleb, and digging my nails into its pelt.
The cougar wastes no time before smacking me in the face with its enormous paw. I feel it's claw cut deep into my cheek, and try hard not to scream. I feel claws and teeth everywhere. My crimson blood runs into the white snow. I mentally joke that its like a blood snow cone. Then I'm taken back to reality.
I punch the beast in the shoulder, trying to make it lose balance, but to no avail. It's about to go in for the kill. I close my eyes and ready myself for certain death. But it never comes.
A/N Two updates in one night. Woop woop!
